Abstract: A mobile application to conduct an auction based on physical presence is provided. The mobile application may be provided by a system comprising one or more modules. A notification module may identify an item to be sold at an auction. If a pre-auction window time period has arrived, the notification module may transmit auction notification messages to a plurality of client devices located within a predefined geographical area. A bidding module may conduct the auction by providing an auction interface to the client devices within the predefined geographical area. The auction interface includes an option to bid on the item. A completion module may transmit a confirmation to a winning auction participant.

Abstract: For an input image of a person, a set of object proposals are generated in the form of bounding boxes. A pose detector identifies coordinates in the image corresponding to locations on the person's body, such as the waist, head, hands, and feet of the person. A convolutional neural network receives the portions of the input image defined by the bounding boxes and generates a feature vector for each image portion. The feature vectors are input to one or more support vector machine classifiers, which generate an output representing a probability of a match with an item. The distance between the bounding box and a joint associated with the item is used to modify the probability. The modified probabilities for the support vector machine are then compared with a threshold and each other to identify the item.

Abstract: Aspects of the present disclosure include a system comprising a machine-readable storage medium storing at least one program and computer-implemented methods for detecting a language of a text string. A data transmission that includes data indicating a first search query for an item of a publication system is received from a client machine. A first plurality of search results is determined from listed items based, at least in part, on the first search query, and the first plurality of search results are each associated with a price. A range of prices associated with a first subset of the search results is determined based on a price distribution range including a median price associated with the first search results, or a utility cost function using a plurality of price quantiles and a plurality of price values included in different price quantiles. The determined first search results and the range of prices associated with the first subset of the first search results are transmitted to the client machine for display.
