Abstract:
A wireless phone has a communication application that enables the phone to retain a phone number used in a first network when the phone switches association from the first network to a second network. Switching of network association by the phone is triggered by a user input entered via a user input interface of the phone. The phone directs the first network to not release the phone number upon disassociation of the phone from the first network, sends the phone number to the second network, directs the second network to identify the phone in second network by the phone number, and triggers the second network to attach a tag corresponding to the second network to the phone number and enter the tagged phone number in a central database. In another embodiment a subscriber identity module (SIM) enables the phone to use the communication application for phone number porting.
Abstract:
End-point devices, access points and other types of network nodes each employ multi-path management software to manage communication via multiple possible paths to the Internet backbone from communication applications that run on an end-point device. Although the multi-path management software on an end-point device may operate independently, it may also cooperate with the local communication applications and the multi-path management software located on the access points or other network nodes to select one or more pathways for the local communication applications. Alternatively, the multi-path management software of an end-point device may pass all or a portion of such management responsibility to a local communication application and/or to multi-path management software of another network node. In addition to managing the selection of one or more pathways, the multi-path management software seamlessly switches pathways as may become necessary to meet changing network conditions or bandwidth demands.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus are provided for call setup in a communication network that comprises at least one mobile station to facilitate the hand-off of a wireless headset from a mobile station that has been docked to a landline base unit that includes a radio front end operable to communicate with the wireless headset. Generally, the embodiments of the invention include establishing a first voice path through at least one switching element between a calling party and a called party in a communication network where at least one of the called and calling parties is communicating with the mobile station or, more generally, with a wireless telephone. Thereafter, a first wireless headset communication link is established between the wireless telephone and the wireless headset unit.
Abstract:
Systems and methods of printer resource sharing in a communication network are provided. In one embodiment, the system may comprise, for example, at least one communication device, a communication network, print server software, and at least one personal printer resource. The communication device may be deployed at a location. The communication network may be communicatively coupled to that communication device. The print server software may receive from the communication device via the communication network a request for printing of information content. The print server software may respond by coordinating the printing of the information content. The at least one personal printer resource may be communicatively coupled to the at least one communication device. The print server software may reside outside of the at least one personal printer resource, and the at least one personal printer resource may be accessed for printing by the communication device via the communication network.
Abstract:
A search engine server supports crawling of third party servers communicatively coupled to the search engine server to gather vectors to web content, wherein the search engine server delivers a report to registered creative work owners by identifying vectors to web content that contain similarities to their works and by providing protection to the copyrighted creative works. The search engine server has components that identify similarities to the works of the registered owners of the creative works and provide protection by reporting to the registered owners as well as host third party servers, in case of textual, image, audio and video creative works. This service is an added value based service of the search engine server to the registered owners of the creative works upon service charge basis. The search engine server also provides additional services that include reporting to the host third party servers that contain web content having similarities to that of creative works of registered owners and assisting the third party servers to delete the content upon consideration.
Abstract:
A soft drink container includes a plurality of the additive storage containers, a plurality of additive contents contained in the additive storage containers, an additive storage selector, a base storage container containing at least one base liquid, and a mechanism operable to release the additive contents into the base liquid storage. The plurality of additive contents may include at least one of salts, spices, flavoring, color agents, odors, fragrances, vitamins, thickeners, enhancers, fruit distillers, preservatives and vitamins. The additive storage selector is operable to separately align each of the plurality of additive storage containers with an opening of the base storage container and is operable to release a selected additive content into the base liquid container. The additive storage selector may further include a piercer operable to pierce the base storage container.
Abstract:
A wireless access point and multiple wireless terminals exchange utilization, status, mobility and reception characteristics. Each wireless terminal generates reception characteristics based on transmissions received from the wireless access point and from other devices in the network. In one operating mode, the characteristics gathered by the wireless devices are forwarded to the wireless access point, and, based on all received characteristics, the wireless access point selects its own transmission power for different types of the transmission. In another mode, all characteristics are exchanged between every wireless terminal and the access point so that each can independently or cooperatively make transmission power control decisions. In a further mode, the wireless access point adjusts protocol parameters based on an assessment of the characteristics received from the client devices. The utilization, status, mobility, and reception characteristics include received signal strength, error rates, estimated battery life, availability of unlimited power, active versus sleep mode ratios, anticipated bandwidth utilization, coding schemes available, deterministic/non-deterministic requirements, encryption and security requirements, quality of service requirements, position, velocity, stationary status, etc. Gathering of such characteristics involves both retrieval of preset parameters from memory and generating parameters based on received transmissions (including test packets).
Abstract:
An Internet infrastructure that supports searching of web links selects search results by processing browser activity information along with one or more of favorite lists, and related metadata, user profiles, and trends based on browser activity behavior and favorite behavior. The Internet infrastructure consists of a plurality of web browsers located on client devices. The web browsers are incorporated with a browser activity-monitoring module that tracks user's Internet usage, processes this information, and sends this information periodically or upon user request to the server to aid in improving search operation results. The search engine server is communicatively coupled to the plurality of web browsers and supports delivery of search results/web links to the client device based upon a search string, browser activity information, and possibly the favorite lists and related metadata. The search engine server stores the gathered browser activity information, favorite lists, and related metadata in one or more server database that is associated with the search engine server, and delivers search results.
Abstract:
An Internet infrastructure that supports search operations along with malware screening that uses a search server of a search string from a client device. The search server comprises a search engine for searching the Internet and contains modules for malware detection and quarantine functions. The search server identifies the malwares in the search results, generates malware metadata, and provides appropriate messages to the client device that initiated the search service so the user can avoid malware while browsing and searching Internet. The search results that span to a desired level of sub-domain Universal Resource Locators (URLs) and links are quarantined and denied access when found to be infected with malwares. The associated status messages of the search results are displayed with color code and a popup window displays all the information about the searched links when accessed.
Abstract:
A web browser agent or plug-in installed into a web browser of a client device provides translation services along with a search engine server. The system accesses a web page in one (local) language and then translates to another (foreign) language and displays the translated content in a web page for user's viewing. The web browser agent is an add-on software tool or plug-in, provided by the search engine server and installed into the web browser. As a result of installation, a toolbar appears on the top of the web browser's page. This toolbar provides the interface to enable local translation of web pages from a local/web language to a target/foreign language useful to the user. Centralized (cloud computing) translation services by servers of a third party may also be employed. Web pages in any number of languages may be accessed using this operations/structure.
