    Abstract: In a first step of a two step content selection operation, initial content can be selected by detecting movement of a content selection object with respect to a computing device. The selection area can be calculated based on the object movement that is detected. The content within the selection area can be selected and displayed in a second display area overlaying the original content. The initial content can be copied into the second display area. All or part of the initial content can be enlarged, enabling the second step of the selection operation in which a subset of the initial content is selected.

    Abstract: Technologies pertaining to a rotary electrical contact device are described herein. A rotary electrical contact device comprises a first sheave that is disposed about a first axis and a second sheave that rotates about the first axis or a second axis that is parallel to the first axis. The device further includes two planetary sheaves that revolve around the first and second sheaves, and a belt that makes contact with each of the sheaves, the belt having an aspect ratio great than 1:1. As the first sheave rotates, the planetary sheaves revolve about the first and second sheaves and cause the belt to deform and roll along the second sheave. The belt makes rolling contact with the four sheaves. The belt comprises electrically conductive components arranged such that as the belt rolls along the sheaves, the belt maintains electrical contact between the first sheave and the second sheave.

    Abstract: The various technologies presented herein relate to identifying whether an individual has taken, and/or is under the influence of, a restricted drug. A density separation technique is utilized, wherein a sample (e.g., blood, saliva, urine, etc.) which may include an analyte is exposed to a first plurality of beads having an analyte attached thereto, a second plurality of beads having a metabolite-specific antibody attached thereto, and a plurality of fluorophore-labelled analyte-specific antibodies. After incubation, any analyte in the sample (e.g., delta-9-THC) is bound to the fluorophore-labelled analyte-specific antibodies, any free fluorophore-labelled analyte-specific antibodies are attached to the analyte of the first beads, and any metabolite in the sample is bound to the second antibody. By applying centrifugal separation, the first beads move to a region which undergoes irradiation. If no fluorescence occurs, the sample includes the analyte; if fluorescence occurs, the sample does not include the analyte.

    Abstract: A supplement application for ordering genetic tests is disclosed herein. The supplement application receives an identifier for a medication for a patient and an identifier for the patient from an electronic health records application. The supplement application retrieves an identifier for a variant form of a gene based on the identifier for the medication. The variant form of the gene is known to have an interaction with the medication. When the supplement application determines that the patient has failed to undergo a genetic test for the variant form of the gene, the supplement application retrieves an identifier for a genetic laboratory that offers the genetic test. The supplement application then constructs an order for the genetic test using the identifier for the patient, the identifier for the variant form of the gene, and the identifier for the genetic laboratory and transmits the order to a genetic laboratory computing device.

    Abstract: An autonomous vehicle including a projector and a sensor system configured to output data representative of an object in an environment exterior of the autonomous vehicle. The autonomous vehicle can further include a data store that stores height map data. A computing system of the autonomous vehicle can classify an object as a person and can detect an initial position of the person. Responsive to the detection, the computing system can calibrate a notification to be projected on a ground of the environment exterior of the autonomous vehicle. The notification is based on output of a transform from a position of the projector to the ground and the transform is applied based on the predefined height map of the ground. The notification can be projected adjacent the person. The notification may be configured to inform the person that the autonomous vehicle detects a position of the person.

    Abstract: A hierarchical dictionary having methods of storing words based on frequency thereof in one or more documents which includes the steps of identifying a hash value corresponding to an inputted word; storing the word in a first hash map and in a second hash map having a substantially larger word storage capacity than the first hash map based on the identified hash value; clearing the first hash map at every predetermined period or triggering event; determining whether a frequency of the word as stored in the second hash map exceeds a predetermined value; and if so, promoting the word from the second hash map to a third hash map having a substantially larger word storage capacity than the second hash map for long-term storage and later retrieval.
