摘要： A method of reducing a call set-up time between a pair of H.324-like terminals coupled to one or more telecommunication networks includes providing a first capability identifier in at least one of a non-standard or generic field of a first TCS message, transmitting the first capability identifier from the first H.324-like terminal to the second H.324-like terminal, and receiving, at the first H.324-like terminal, a second capability identifier in at least one of a non-standard or generic field of a second TCS message transmitted from the second H.324-like terminal. The method also includes determining, at the first H.324-like terminal, a mode of operation by utilizing an inference algorithm based upon at least the first capability identifier and the second capability identifier. The method further includes transmitting media from the first H.324-like terminal to the second H.324-like terminal in accordance with the determined mode of operation.

The method also includes providing an application logic for the multimedia service, establishing a visual link between the multimedia terminal and the server over a video channel, providing an audio stream for the multimedia service over the audio link, and providing a visual stream for the multimedia service over the video link. The method further includes combining the video link and the audio link, and adjusting a transmission time of one or more packets in the visual stream to synchronize the visual stream with the audio stream.

The method further includes determining that a conflict exists between the first capability and the second capability, resolving the conflict by modifying at least one of the first capability or the second capability, and transmitting information from the first terminal to the second terminal.
