The maintenance sheet includes a cap section that is brought into abutment with the nozzle formation surface to form a sealed space in cooperation with the nozzle formation surface when the facing surface and the nozzle formation surface have been made to approach each other relatively in a facing position where the facing surface faces the nozzle formation surface, and that is made variable in internal volume in the abutment state, a communication hole that is penetratingly formed so as to allow the inside and outside of the cap section to communicate with each other, and a valve that opens and closes the communication hole. The valve activates to open with a reduction in the internal volume of the cap section, while the valve activates to close with an increase in the internal volume of the cap section.

    摘要: Disclosed is a method for overcoating a protective layer by heating onto a printed recording medium to protect the recording medium. This method comprises providing a transferable sheet comprising a heat resistant substrate and a transferable layer, which serves as the protective layer, and a recording medium, putting the transferable sheet on the recording medium and, in this state, heating and pressing the transferable sheet and/or the recording medium to contact-bond the transferable layer onto the recording medium, and then heating and pressing the transferred layer contact-bonded to the recording medium. According to this method, a good protective layer can be overcoated onto the recording medium independently of the shape of concaves and convexes formed on the surface of the recording medium.

    摘要: A printing method that alternately repeats a transport operation that transports a continuous medium in a transport direction and an image forming operation that moves a head to form an image to thereby print out a first image and a second image, which has a smaller length in the transport direction than the first image, on the continuous medium. The printing method includes: setting a unit area, which is equal to or smaller than the size of a printing area that is printable through the one image forming operation, on the basis of the printable printing area and the size of the first image; generating print data for the unit area such that, within the unit area, an integer number of the first images are aligned at a first spacing in the transport direction, an integer number of the second images are aligned at a second spacing in the transport direction, and the integer number of the first images aligned in the transport direction and the integer number of the second images aligned in the transport direction are printed so as to be aligned in a width direction that intersects with the transport direction; and performing printing using the print data repeatedly so that, on the continuous medium, a plurality of the first images are aligned at the first spacing in the transport direction and a plurality of the second images are aligned at the second spacing in the transport direction.

    摘要: A liquid ejection apparatus includes a liquid ejection head, a liquid receiving member, a liquid receiving member moving mechanism, and a liquid ejection head moving mechanism. The liquid ejection head has a nozzle surface in which liquid ejection nozzles are formed. An opening larger than the nozzle surface is formed in a portion of the liquid receiving member. A portion of the liquid receiving member other than the portion corresponding to the opening functions as a liquid receiving portion that receives the liquid ejected from the liquid ejection nozzles in flushing. The liquid ejection head moving mechanism moves the liquid ejection head to move the nozzle surface close to or separately from the target transport surface. The liquid ejection head moving mechanism moves the liquid ejection head until the nozzle surface reaches a printing position close to the target transport surface in the printing and a flushing position spaced from the target transport surface in the flushing.
