    Abstract: A display panel includes multiple pairs of scan lines extending in a first direction, multiple data lines extending in a second direction transverse to the first direction, and multiple connection lines extending in the second direction. For each pair of scan lines, the scan lines are provided with the same electrical signal. The data lines cooperate with the scan lines to define a plurality of pixel regions in such a way that two of the data lines are interposed between two of the pixel regions that are immediately adjacent to each other in the first direction in plan view. Each connection line is electrically connected to a corresponding pair of scan lines.

    Abstract: Disclosed herein are a viewing angle control unit, a substrate assembly of the viewing angle control unit, and a display assembly. The viewing angle control unit includes two substrate assemblies, a liquid crystal (LC) component disposed between the substrate assemblies, and a seal component interconnecting the substrate assemblies and surrounding the LC component. At least one of the substrate assemblies includes a transparent base substrate, a transparent electrode layer disposed on the transparent base substrate, and an alignment film disposed on the transparent electrode layer. The transparent electrode layer has a groove extending along at least part of the seal component, so as to mitigate excessive spreading of a material of the alignment film during manufacturing of the viewing angle control unit. The display assembly includes the viewing angle control unit.

    Abstract: An in-cell touch panel includes: transistors and pixel electrodes respectively provided in pixels; common electrodes arranged in a first direction and a second direction, each facing one or more of the pixel electrodes and provided separately from each other; gate lines extending along the first direction; data lines extending along the second direction; dummy data lines extending along the second direction, provided in a same layer as the data lines; and touch lines extending along the second direction and connected to a corresponding one of common electrodes. The data lines and the dummy data lines are alternately provided for boundaries between two pixels adjacent in the first direction.

    Abstract: A LCD device having a large pixel holding capacitance includes opposedly facing first and second substrates, and liquid crystal between them. The first substrate includes a video signal line, a pixel electrode, a thin film transistor having a first electrode connected to the video signal line and a second electrode connected to the pixel electrode, a first silicon nitride film formed above the second electrode, an organic insulation film above the first silicon nitride film, a capacitance electrode above the organic insulation film, and a second silicon nitride film above the capacitance electrode and below the pixel electrode. A contact hole etched in both the first and second silicon nitride films connects the second electrode and the pixel electrode to each other. A holding capacitance is formed by the pixel electrode, the second silicon nitride film and the capacitance electrode.

    Abstract: A display device includes a display panel having a display region and a peripheral region, the display panel including a TFT substrate, a counter substrate fixed to the TFT substrate by seal material formed at the peripheral region, and liquid crystal interposed between the TFT substrate and the counter substrate. The TFT substrate includes an inorganic film and an organic film, with first column spacers being formed on the counter substrate. The organic film includes a first part which has an island-like shape formed at the peripheral region and a second part formed at the display region, and the seal material covers at least one of the first column spacers and the first part of the organic film, and is in contact with the inorganic film. The first part of the organic film is separated from the second part of the organic film of the organic film.

    Abstract: A method for manufacturing a liquid crystal display device including a display panel provided with a first substrate, a second substrate, and liquid crystal, the method comprises: a first irradiation step of irradiating first positions of a first glass plate and a second glass plate with a laser beam having first irradiation energy; a second irradiation step of irradiating second positions of the first glass plate and the second glass plate with the laser beam having second irradiation energy higher than the first irradiation energy; and an etching step of exposing the display panel to an etching solution after the first irradiation step and the second irradiation step, such that the first positions are not cleaved, the second positions are cleaved, and at least a part of an outer periphery of each of the first substrate and the second substrate is formed.
