Abstract: A measurement device for generating an arterial volume-indicative signal includes an exciter and a detector. The exciter is adapted to receive an oscillating signal and generate a pressure wave based at least in part on the oscillating signal on the artery at a measurement site on a patient. The pressure wave includes a frequency. The detector is placed sufficiently near the measurement site to detect a volumetric signal indicative of arterial volume of the patient.

Abstract: The present invention provides a viewing apparatus for simulating visual impairment. In one embodiment, the apparatus includes a frame defining a viewing area and first and second lenses supported by the frame. The first lens is disposed in a first region of the viewing area. The second lens is disposed in at least a second region of the viewing area. The first and second lenses have different image distortion patterns. In another embodiment, the apparatus may include frame and a lens supported by the frame. The lens includes a first plurality of image distorting features disposed in a first region of the lens; and a second plurality of image distorting features defined in the first region of the lens.

Abstract: An improved portable bathing apparatus useful for washing toxic substances from a patient in a prone position includes a support platform mounted on a support frame, a circumferential rail with a sheet attached to the rail, the rail being movable between a position parallel with the table to a position above the table to define a vessel. Specialized liners may be positioned within the vessel for use when bathing a patient to wash toxic substances therefrom. A stretcher with a special stainless steel construction and configuration is provided for support of a patient within the vessel.
