摘要: In a sheet stacking system with top sheet input registration assistance by a scuffer, or the like, and a cooperative floating buckle suppression baffle or ski over the stack, disclosed is a flotation and mounting system for automatically maintaining a baffle evenly spaced closely above the top of said stack, and automatically moved up as incoming sheets are added to the top of said stack, to allow incoming sheets to be easily fed thereunder with low friction. Preferably this spacing is maintained by the scuffer position. This floating baffle can also provide an integral sheet stopping lip extending downwardly from the top of the stack along one edge thereof to provide stack edge registration and to prevent registration edge climbing of incoming sheets.

摘要: In a multi-bin sorter for collating sheets of paper or the like from a fixed sheet output into sets in the bins, with a system for sorter bin loading in which the bins are opened relative to one another adjacent the fixed sheet output, the bins are respectively intermediately pivotally mounted in an array to a common mounting system (with a fixed spacing at their pivotal mounting positions) for common linear vertical movement as an integral unit with a simple drive system, yet individually pivoted open for loading by a fixed pivotal control guide system, preferably a generally linear cam track with a transition for engaging individually integral extensions of said bins to pivot them about their intermediate pivotal mounting into the sorter bin loading position relative to the next adjacent bin, when the bin array is commonly vertically moved by the drive system.

摘要: A copy sheet rotator in which a sheet is moved by two separately driven crowned rolls that form nips with cooperating idler rolls. For sheet turning, one roll is stopped with the sheet in the nip while the other roll continues to drive and rotate the sheet. A separate scuffer roller registers the rotated sheet after it has been released from the rolls without scuffing damage. The position, angle and velocity of the scuffer allows the sheet to remain in tension during rotation and therefore prevents buckling without the need for nip release systems.

摘要: A method of operating a printer produces duplex images in print jobs including ink images to be printed to tabbed, hole-punched, and differently sized media sheets with improved throughput. The method synchronizes a media transport to insert a differently sized media sheet with reference to the type of media sheet, enabling the media sheet to contact a portion of the roller bearing substantially less release agent than the rest of the roller, minimizing release agent transfer to a second side of the media sheet.

摘要: A method and system for motivating and optimizing usage of a toll lane by displaying a time based cost metric on an electronic display. The real time electronic display can be configured on the toll lane for displaying information with respect to the toll lane to, for example, a driver on a highway. An average speed of vehicles in the toll lane and/or a non-toll lane of the highway over at least one span can be measured and the average speed can be displayed on the electronic display. A toll rate with respect to the usage of the toll lane can be determined and displayed. A time saving value and a cost per unit time with respect to the usage of the toll lane over the span can be calculated and displayed on the electronic display.

摘要: A novel email rating system for enabling a user to rate an email based on characteristics selectable from several categories. In one example embodiment, a sender's email is received by an email receiver. The sender of the email is identified. If the sender is a person whose emails are to be rated by the receiver, cumulative ratings and other information associated with the sender and the recipient are retrieved from a database over a network. The retrieved ratings for the sender are displayed to the receiver either on the email or in a pop-up window. Various other information and selectable options are also displayed for the receiver. After reading the email, the receiver can rate the email in any of a plurality of defined categories such as, for example, usefulness, educational, motivational, helpfulness, productivity, spelling/grammar.
