    Abstract: A method of video processing includes determining a refined prediction sample P′(x,y) at a position (x,y) in a video block by modifying a prediction sample P(x,y) at the position (x,y) with a first gradient component Gx(x, y) in a first direction estimated at the position (x,y) and a second gradient component Gy(x, y) in a second direction estimated at the position (x,y) and a first motion displacement Vx(x,y) estimated for the position (x,y) and a second motion displacement Vy(x,y) estimated for the position (x,y), where x and y are integer numbers, and performing a conversion between the video block and a bitstream representation of the video block using a reconstructed sample value Rec(x,y) at the position (x,y) that is obtained based on the refined prediction sample P′(x,y) and a residue sample value Res(x,y).

    Abstract: Devices, systems and methods for digital video coding, which includes matrix-based intra prediction methods for video coding, are described. In a representative aspect, a method for video processing includes performing a conversion between a current video block of a video and a bitstream representation of the current video block using a matrix based intra prediction (MIP) mode in which a prediction block of the current video block is determined by performing, on previously coded samples of the video, a boundary downsampling operation, followed by a matrix vector multiplication operation, and followed by an upsampling operation, where the upsampling operation is performed, in both a vertical direction and a horizontal direction in a fixed order, on samples obtained from the matrix vector multiplication operation.

An exemplary method for video processing includes determining, for encoding one or more video blocks in a video region of a visual media data into a bitstream representation of the visual media data, a maximum allowed dimension up to which a current video block of the one or more video blocks is allowed to be encoded using a transform skip mode such that a residual of a prediction error between the current video block and a reference video block is represented in the bitstream representation without applying a transform; and including a syntax element indicative of the maximum allowed dimension in the bitstream representation.

In an exemplary aspect, a method for video processing includes deriving, for a conversion between a current block of video and a bitstream representation of the current block, an affine model for the current block based on affine related information stored in at least one history motion vector prediction (HMVP) buffer of multiple HMVP buffers, the multiple HMVP buffers being used to store affine related information of blocks coded prior the current block in different categories; and performing the conversion by using the derived affine model.
