摘要: Disclosed herein are a video decoding method and apparatus and a video encoding method and apparatus. Coding decision information of a representative channel of a target block is shared as coding decision information of a target channel of the target block, and decoding of the target block is performed using the coding decision information of the target channel. Since the coding decision information of the representative channel is shared with an additional channel, repeated signaling of identical coding decision information may be prevented. By means of this prevention, the efficiency of encoding and decoding of the target block or the like may be improved.

摘要: Disclosed herein are a method and apparatus for video decoding and a method and apparatus for video encoding. A prediction block for a target block is generated by predicting the target block using a prediction network, and a reconstructed block for the target block is generated based on the prediction block and a reconstructed residual block. The prediction network includes an intra-prediction network and an inter-prediction network and uses a spatial reference block and/or a temporal reference block when it performs prediction. For learning in the prediction network, a loss function is defined, and learning in the prediction network is performed based on the loss function.

摘要: Disclosed herein are an inter-prediction method and apparatus using a reference frame generated based on deep learning. In the inter-prediction method and apparatus, a reference frame is selected, and a virtual reference frame is generated based on the selected reference frame. A reference picture list is configured to include the generated virtual reference frame, and inter prediction for a target block is performed based on the virtual reference frame. The virtual reference frame may be generated based on a deep-learning network architecture, and may be generated based on video interpolation and/or video extrapolation that use the selected reference frame.

The encoding apparatus selects an encoding mode to be used to encode a target block from among multiple modes and performs computation for rate-distortion optimization in the encoding mode. The encoding apparatus calculates a cost of at least one of the multiple modes in relation to the encoding of the target block, and selects the encoding mode from among the multiple modes, based on the cost.

In the image decoding method, whether filtering is to be performed across a boundary of a target block is determined, and filtering strength for the boundary of the target block and the number of samples to be used for filtering are determined. Based on this determination, filtering across the boundary of the target block is performed. When the filtering strength and the number of samples are determined, coding parameters related to the target block and a neighbor block, such as a block size and a prediction mode, are used.

The determination is performed based on the shape of the target block. When the prediction mode is determined to be unavailable for the target block, signaling related to the prediction mode may be omitted, and determination of an additional prediction mode is performed. When the prediction mode is determined to be available for the target block, information indicating whether the prediction mode is to be used for the target block is signaled.

For a candidate block in a col picture, a scaled motion vector is generated based on a motion vector of the candidate block. When the scaled motion vector indicates a target block, a motion vector predictor of the target block is generated based on the motion vector of the candidate block. The motion vector predictor is used to derive the motion vector of the target block in a specific inter-prediction mode such as a merge mode and an AMVP mode.

摘要: A method and apparatus for image compression using a latent variable are provided. The multiple components of the latent variable may be sorted in order of importance. Through sorting, when the feature information of only some of the multiple components is used, the quality of a reconstructed image may be improved. In order to generate a latent variable, the components of which are sorted in order of importance, learning may be performed in various manners. Also, less important information may be eliminated from the latent variable, and processing, such as quantization, may be applied to the latent variable. Through elimination and processing, the amount of data for the latent variable may be reduced.

In the encoding and decoding of a video, a prediction mode may be selected from among multiple prediction modes using prediction mode information for a target block, and prediction may be performed on the target block based on the selected prediction mode, wherein the prediction mode information includes information related to a reference block, and wherein the reference block comprises one or more of a spatially neighboring block that is spatially adjacent to the target block and a temporally neighboring block that is temporally adjacent to the target block. When the selected prediction mode includes a plurality of prediction modes, a prediction mode to be used for prediction of the target block may be decided on among the plurality of selected prediction modes through signaling of the prediction mode decision information.
