    摘要: Disclosed is a system and method for gradually adjusting a look-up table (LUT) for a print engine in order to improve the regulation of color quality of printed images. The LUT is updated so that a target value for a particular color is achieved. This corrects for a measured or predicted change in a tone reproduction curve. Depending upon the severity of the required adjustment, a series of incremental adjustments rather than a single adjustment can be made to the LUT table over a period of time. Each adjustment in the series can be limited to a predetermined maximum delta so that any corrections made to the LUT following the generation and evaluation of one test image and before the generation and evaluation of the next test image for the same target color are gradually and imperceptibly implemented (i.e., unnoticeable).

    摘要: A system is provided that determines the amount of toner on a photo receptor in a xerographic operation. A photo receptor is charged in one or more locations to create an image. A developer places a patch of a predetermined amount of toner onto the one or more charge locations of the photo receptor. A light emitting diode projects light onto the photo receptor, wherein the intensity of the light varies based on the voltage provided to the LED. An optical reflective sensor measures the reflectance of the toner placed on the photo receptor, the amount of reflectance of the toner is related in a known way to the intensity of the LED. A direct relationship between LED intensity and the reflectance of the toner allow for accurate extrapolation at LED intensities greater than the point of saturation.

The voltage values around the periphery of the photoreceptor commonly referred to as the Vc belt signature are measured. The readings for each of the ESVs are averaged (to find the mean) and the deviations from the mean are smoothed using a 41-term weighting function that properly removes the high frequency reading spikes while retaining the low frequency belt signature. Center weighted averaging of 41 points (n, . . . n±20) where n is a measured point on the photoreceptor that is averaged with the previous twenty readings together with the next twenty readings is initiated a few mm past the photoreceptor seam and ends a few mm before the seam—no phase shift. The readings are taken approximately every 3 mm around the periphery of the photoreceptor.
