    Abstract: A system of providing audio description in a vehicle includes one or more vehicle sensors configured to provide perception data. An audio unit is adapted to transmit an audio signal inside the vehicle. The system includes a controller having a processor and tangible, non-transitory memory on which instructions are recorded. The controller is adapted to identify elements in a scene in proximity to the vehicle based in part on input data from a plurality of source, including the perception data from the vehicle sensors. The controller is adapted to generate output data based in part on the elements identified in the scene. The output data is merged into one or more cohesive sentences for the audio description. The controller is adapted to determine an output sequence for the audio description based on a predefined list of priorities and transmit the audio description through the audio unit in the output sequence.

In one embodiment, a method includes: receiving, by the controller, first return data detected by a first detector of a lidar device as a result of a first laser pulse or chirp; receiving, by the controller, second return data detected by a second detector of the lidar device as a result of a second laser pulse or chirp; combining, by the controller, the first return data and the second return data to form a point cloud; and controlling, by the controller, the vehicle based on the point cloud.

    Abstract: A sensor for emitting or receiving light rays includes a clear substrate having a first surface, and an applique attached to the first surface of the clear substrate. The applique includes a transparent fluoropolymer sheet of fluorinated ethylene propylene having a first surface facing the first surface of the clear substrate, and a pressure sensitive optically clear acrylic adhesive disposed on the first surface of the fluoropolymer sheet. The pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive adheres the transparent sheet to the first surface of the clear substrate, and exhibits a peel strength of between 1 and 3 lbs/in. The first surface of the fluoropolymer sheet is treated for adhesion prior to applying the pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive thereto.

    Abstract: Securing package delivery via unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), drones, robots, etc. is contemplated. The package delivery may include assigning a provenance certificate to a package scheduled for drone delivery, determining a plurality of vehicles to be used in transporting the package to an autonomous receiver, determining credentials assigned to each of the vehicles, pairing the credentials with the package to generate a delivery pairing, the delivery pairing identifying the credentials of the vehicles authorized to transport the package, and transporting the delivery pairing to each of the vehicles to prevent vehicles having certificates omitted from the delivery pairing from transporting the package.

    Abstract: A system for managing a vehicle set includes a controller having a processor and tangible, non-transitory memory on which instructions are recorded. The vehicle set includes a plurality of autonomous vehicles each having a respective telematics unit adapted to communicate with the controller. The controller is adapted to receive notification of an event in real-time and identify at least one center of the event. The controller is adapted to determine a respective status of the vehicle set in real-time, including a respective availability and a respective proximity to the event. The controller is adapted to dispatch selected ones of the vehicle set to the event based in part on the respective status and assign event duties to the selected ones of the vehicle set. The event duties including forming a boundary around the at least one center of the event by being physically stationed around the at least one center.
