摘要:
A disposable absorbent article adapted to be worn about a lower torso of a human body and having a chassis, a non-removable absorbent core component disposed in a crotch region of the chassis, and a replaceable absorbent core component disposed in capillary liquid communication with the non-removable absorbent core component and having longitudinally disposed regions of liquid permeability and liquid impermeability on the same surface. The replaceable absorbent core component may be removed and a like component may be substituted without the removal of the absorbent article from the wearer. The replaceable absorbent core component may be disposed inside an openable chassis pocket, with access for its removal and replacement provided by an aperture in a backsheet, an openable end of an external pocket, or an openable end of an internal pocket formed at an area of a waist end edge where the backsheet and a topsheet may be separated.
摘要:
Various stiffness characteristics of removable and replaceable absorbent core components used with disposable absorbent articles are disclosed. The replaceable core component can be constructed with bending stiffness characteristics making it easier to install in a diaper chassis. In other instances, a relatively stiff insertion tool may also be used to engage a relatively flexible replaceable core component to aid with insertion of the replacaeable core component into the diaper chassis. Aspects of the present disclosure involve replaceable core components alone or in combination with insertion tools having bending stiffness characteristics that reduce the likelihood of buckling and/or folding while installing the replaceable core component into the diaper chassis. The present disclosure also provides methods for testing replaceable core components and/or insertion tools to evaluate the bending stiffness characteristics associated therewith.

A disposable absorbent article suitable for absorbing and retaining aqueous body fluids includes a backsheet that is substantially liquid impervious except at a discontinuity therein and an absorbent core between the backsheet and a topsheet. The absorbent core includes a non-removable component and a removable and replaceable component in fluid communication with the non-removable component. Access for the removal and replacement of the removable component is provided by the discontinuity in the backsheet. The replaceable absorbent core component may be removed and a like component may be substituted in place of the removed component without removal of the absorbent article from the wearer.

Disclosed are absorbent cores for inclusion in articles such as diapers, incontinent briefs, training pants, diaper holders and liners, feminine hygiene garments, and the like, designed to provide improved fit and comfort for the wearer while adequately containing body exudates. The absorbent core is designed so as to retain low levels of fluid in the crotch region, relative to the other core regions, even when the core absorbs significant amounts of fluid during use. To achieve this, the absorbent core is designed such that fluid is moved substantially from the crotch region to the front and/or rear ends of the article. In particular, the absorbent core comprises in its crotch region a material having significant vertical wicking absorbent capacities. The absorbent core also preferably comprises a non-removable absorbent core component in the crotch region, and removable absorbent core components in the front or rear regions of the article.

Disclosed are absorbent structures comprising a first layer, a second layer juxtaposed in facing relation with said first layer, wherein at least one of the layers is fluid pervious. These structures also have a continuous region between said first and second layers comprising hydrogel-forming polymer that is substantially uniformly distributed throughout the region. The continuous region at least partially surrounds multiple, spaced apart zones between said layers, which zones are substantially devoid of hydrogel-forming absorbent polymer. The first and second layers are bonded together such that said hydrogel-forming absorbent polymer is substantially immobilized when in dry state, preferably at sites within a plurality of the zones. Preferably, the hydrogel-forming polymer has relatively high gel permeability such that it forms a gel-continuous fluid transportation layer.

摘要:
The present invention is a high capillary suction storage absorbent member comprising an agglomerate of particulate hydrogel-forming absorbent polymer and particulate high surface area open-celled hydrophilic foam. In another aspect of the invention the agglomerate of particulate hydrogel-forming absorbent polymer and particulate high surface area open-celled hydrophilic foam is disclosed. The absorbent member is useful in the containment (e.g., storage) of body liquids such as urine. In one embodiment, the storage absorbent member comprises the agglomerate. In another embodiment, the absorbent member comprises the agglomerate adjacent to at least one sheet, strip or piece of high surface area open-celled hydrophilic foam material. In either the storage absorbent member or agglomerates of the invention, the high surface area open-celled hydrophilic foam comprises from about 1% to about 98%, preferably from about 15% to about 85%, more preferably from about 30% to about 40% by weight of the member or agglomerate, respectively. An unique aspect of the agglomerates according to the present invention is that they are formed without the use of a separate bonding substance, such as an adhesive.

In particular, the absorbent core comprises in its crotch region a distribution material having high fluid flux capabilities even after long periods of time. The material's flux properties reflect its ability to move significant amounts of fluid from the crotch of the core, even after long periods of time (e.g., 10 and 30 minutes).
