Abstract: A crossbow with an inertia brake cocking device preferably utilizes a one-way bearing to control rotation of the drive unit used to wind (take-up) an elongated connecting device. Functional properties of an inertia brake mechanism (IBM) are well known. In its simplest form, an IBM has at least a first plate floating within a cavity, the first plate having a protrusion along an edge, and the cavity having recesses radially about its perimeter. Under controlled rotation in either direction, the IBM allows for the unrestricted rotation of the mechanism to which it is coupled. If the IBM senses a rapid acceleration of the spool, inertia moves the plate to engage a recess in the perimeter of the cavity, stopping uncontrolled rotation of the spool.

Abstract: A crossbow having a built in manual cocking mechanism that may also be utilized with an optional built in, removable motor gearbox assembly and power source. The motor gearbox assembly may or may not have a clutch assembly, whereby rotational force reaches a predetermined amount, rotation of the drive shaft ceases. Switches may be provided to start, stop, and reverse the direction of rotation of the motor gearbox assembly, as well as switches and or circuits that may control operation of the motor gear set.

The projectile launching device may include a rail, a riser, two energy storing components, (such as two limbs), two cams, a launch string, and at least two cables. The ends of the launch string are attached to the two cams. Opposing ends of first and second cables are coupled to the first and second cams. A mid-portion of the first and second cables are slideably engaged with the first and second cable pulleys, respectively. The two cams are preferably built as mirror images of each other at a centerline of the rail. The two cams include a launch string track, having identical, but mirrored, upper and lower cable tracks.

Abstract: A reverse style crossbow preferably includes a bow riser, a barrel, a latch, a first limb, a second limb, a first cam, a second cam, a first string pulley, a second string pulley and a bowstring. The riser is attached to the barrel at substantially a middle thereof. The first limb extends from a first end of the riser and the second limb extends from a second end of the riser. The first cam is pivotally retained on a distal end of the first limb and the second cam is pivotally retained on a distal end of the second limb. The latch is attached to a top of the barrel. The riser may be located in front of the latch, behind the latch or under the latch. The first string pulley extends from one side of the barrel and the second string pulley extends from an opposing side thereof.

Abstract: A shooting bow with transition modules includes two string cams, two cables, a bow string, two limbs and a bow riser. The shooting bow may be a cross bow or a vertical bow. Abstract: An improved crossbow lock mechanism includes a trigger housing, a seer lever, a seer lock lever, a latch and a trigger. The seer lever includes an anti-dryfiring projection and a latch projection. The seer lever pivots relative to the trigger housing. The latch includes an arrow shaft yoke and a seer notch. The latch pivots relative to trigger housing. The seer notch engages the latch projection. The seer lock lever includes a latch finger and an impact finger. A nock of an arrow shaft is inserted over the bow string. Abstract: A trigger assembly for a crossbow or other weapon system. The trigger assembly includes a trigger arm coupled between a trigger and a sear.
