摘要： A gas generator for an air bag which enables a gas generating agent to be completely burned within a desired period of time, and shows sufficient operating characteristics is provided. In the gas generator for an air bag wherein igniting means to be actuated when an impact sensor detects an impact, solid bodies of gas generating agent to be ignited by the igniting means and burned to generate a combustion gas, and filter means for cooling the combustion gas and scavenging combustion residues are accommodated in a housing having gas discharge ports, the ratio (A/At) of the total surface area A of the solid bodies of gas generating agent to the total opening area At of the gas discharge ports is controlled to be larger than 300.

摘要： A gas generant is provided which decreases toxic components, in particular carbon monoxide and nitrogen oxides, in generated gas to a concentration practical as an air bag system for automobile. A nitrogen-containing organic compound such as a compound containing amino group or amido group or a tetrazole derivative and a oxygen-containing inorganic oxidizer such as KNO3, Sr(NO3)2 or KClO4 are essential components. Therewith one or more metal oxides are contained in the mixed catalyst of the gas generant composition. The oxide is selected from manganese dioxide having a specific surface area not less than 50 m2/g; copper oxide having a specific surface area not less than 1 m2/g; molybdenum oxides such as molybdenum dioxide, molybdenum trioxide, molybdic acid and ammonium molybdate: and copper oxides, cobalt oxides, iron oxides and silver oxides.

The gas generating agent is for a gas generator for an airbag system that is installed at least outside a vehicle cabin and that protects an individual subjected to impact by the vehicle, and has a mass loss rate of not more than 1% after holding for 400 hours at 130° C. in a sealed system. 摘要： An air bag gas generator, which ensures that a lead wire has a sufficient length when installing the generator in a module, is provided even when a connector in the air bag gas generator has a predetermined length. The air bag gas generator includes, in a housing having gas discharge ports and igniting unit storage opening: igniting unit activated by an impact; gas generating agent ignited by the igniting unit and burns and generates a combustion gas; and a filter unit, which cools the combustion gas and/or collects combustion residues. Also, the igniting unit includes an initiator, which is activated by an electrical signal, and an enhancer, which is ignited by the activation of the initiator and burns. The initiator is positioned and then installed in the housing.
