    摘要: A drain cleaning machine with an electronic cable monitoring system is disclosed which comprises a frame supporting a rotatable drum which is driven by a motor through an endless belt. The drum contains a flexible drain cleaning cable which is rotatable with the drum and axially displaceable into and out from the drum, and the frame supports a cable feeding device through which the cable extends and by which the cable is displaced into and out of the drum. An electronic cable monitoring system is configured to assess an amount of cable payed out from and retracted into the drum. A process determines an amount and direction of relative movement between a rotatable drum and a cable follower member and generates a signal representative of an amount of cable payed out or retracted into the drum.

    摘要: A self-tuning resonator for use in a transmitter apparatus for inducing alternating currents in a buried conductor. The resonator is dynamically tuned at frequencies below 500 kHz by exploiting the inherent voltage-variability of net capacitance in multilayer ceramic capacitors. The transmitter apparatus provides improved efficiency and induced output power suitable for use in a man-portable locator system, providing a very high magnetic field output from a physically small battery-powered resonator at frequencies under 500 kHz. The resonator exhibits a very low equivalent series resistance (ESR) and is adaptively returned to a predetermined resonant frequency responsive to any changes in resonance arising from phenomena such as component heating, thereby supporting very high tank circuit currents from battery-powered source to produce very high magnetic flux output.

    摘要: A thru-hull fitting assembly is connected to the forward end of a hollow lamp housing for mounting to a hole in the hull of a vessel in a water-tight fashion. An HID or other lamp is mounted in the lamp housing and is surrounded by a reflector which may have an outer elliptical section and an inner parabolic section. A protective transparent window extends across the forward end of the lamp housing and is sealed thereto. The window may be made of sapphire to provide improved heat dissipation and to resist scratching during hull cleaning and breakage due to thermal shock and wave slap. A circuit may be connected to the lamp to provide over-heat protection, leak detection, as well as fault and power status indicators. Alternate embodiments utilize a solid light pipe or a hollow reflective tube to convey light from the lamp to the protective window.

    摘要: A video pipe inspection system includes a video camera head with an optical sensor connected to a circuit for generating a video image signal representing real time images of scenes in view of the optical sensor. The system further includes a push reel that is rotatably mounted on a support frame. An elongate push cable is normally stored in continuous turns in the push reel. The push cable has a distal end operatively connected to the video camera head and a proximal end operatively connected to a central hub of the push reel. The push cable includes at least one conductor for conveying the video image signal from the camera head. The push cable has a predetermined resiliency and flexibility to permit the push cable to be unwound from the push reel in order to force the camera head a substantial distance down a length of pipe having one or more tight turns. A distance sensing module is mounted to the frame and includes two non-contact sensor pair for detecting an amount and a direction of relative motion of the push reel and for providing a video overlay signal representing a length of push cable that has been pushed into the pipe. An electrical connection is provided between the proximal end of the push cable and the distance sensing module so that the video overlay signal can be joined with video image signal from the camera head to provide an output video signal. The output video signal is transmitted via cable, RF or any other suitable manner to a video display unit that shows real time images of the interior of the pipe along with a visual indication of the length of push cable that has been forced down the pipe.

    摘要: An elongate rugged cylindrical metal housing encloses rotatable forward looking and side looking video cameras for inspecting bore holes of water, oil and natural gas wells. A ring-shaped array of white LEDs is mounted on a PC board at the forward end of the housing. The ring-shaped array of LEDs surrounds, and is spaced rearward of a flat sapphire window through which the forward looking video camera views down the bore hole. The array of forward looking LEDs is encased behind a dome-shaped acrylic window which protects the forward looking LEDs from physical impacts and also functions as a light pipe. A side looking video camera is mounted in an inner tube rotatable by a motor drive within the outer housing about a longitudinal axis of the outer housing. The side field of view of the second video camera can be aligned with a predetermined circumferential region of a side wall of the bore hole for locating and inspecting defects in a well casing. A stationary cylindrical array of white LEDs is mounted in the exterior housing, surrounding the inner rotatable tube, slightly rearward of the second video camera. A light bending film with tiny Fresnel prisms is mounted just inside a cylindrical window of the housing and maximizes the amount of illumination that strikes the predetermined circumferential region. Switch mechanisms and circuitry are provided so that one or more sixty-degree circumferential segments of the cylindrical side facing array of LEDs which are adjacent the field of view of the side looking video camera are energized in order to minimize power consumption and heat dissipation. The forward and side illumination design minimizes the common illuminated volume and maximizes the resolution of the forward and side video images.
