    摘要: The present invention relates a variable optical multiplexer/demultiplexer which can be made smaller and can restrain characteristics from deteriorating. The optical multiplexer/demultiplexer comprises a first optical system, a wavelength branching device, a second optical system, and an optical path changing part. The optical multiplexer/demultiplexer has a plurality of input/output ports, and the first optical system, the wavelength branching device, and the second optical system are disposed between the ports and the optical path changing part. When light is fed into any of the ports, individual wavelength components included in the light are outputted from any of the ports. The optical path changing part inputs the wavelength components condensed by the second optical system, and output the wavelength components to an output optical path which is parallel to but not on the same line as the input optical paths of the wavelength components.

    摘要: [Problems to be solved] To provide an optical switching device which can switch between input/output optical paths of input/output ports while suppressing the influence on optical signals passing through other input/output ports.[Means to solve problems] An optical switching device comprises an optical switch array 6 for switching between input/output paths of a plurality of input/output optical fibers. The optical switch array 6 comprises a substrate 8, on which a cantilever 11 is supported. A part of the cantilever 11 on the leading end side is provided with an annular support 12, which supports a movable mirror 7 inclinably. The movable mirror 7 reflects an optical signal from any of the input/output optical fibers toward another input/output optical fiber. The leading end of the cantilever 11 is provided with a comb part 14. Arranged on the upper face of the substrate 8 are electrode 15a, 15b for tilting the movable mirror 7 with respect to the annular support 12 and an electrode 16 for moving the movable mirror 7 in the direction different from the tilting direction of the movable mirror 7.

    摘要: In an incoming path, light fed to an input port is demultiplexed by a wavelength demultiplexer in terms of wavelength, converged by a first light-converging optical system, reflected by a first reflecting mirror, turned into parallel light by the first light-converging optical system, and multiplexed by the wavelength demultiplexer, so as to be fed to a reflecting surface of a rectangular reflecting mirror. In an outgoing path, the light reflected by the rectangular reflecting mirror is demultiplexed by the wavelength demultiplexer in terms of wavelengths, converged by the first light-converging optical system, reflected by the first reflecting mirror, turned into parallel light by the first light-converging optical system, and multiplexed by the wavelength demultiplexer, so as to be fed to an output port. An image of each wavelength light component reflected by the first reflecting mirror is inverted between the incoming and outgoing paths.

A difference is not less than 100 nm between a wavelength at which optical coupling is maximum between core-mode light and cladding-mode light of a predetermined mode number in the first long-period grating and a wavelength at which optical coupling is maximum between core-mode light and cladding-mode light of the same mode number as the cladding-mode light of the predetermined mode number, in the second long-period grating. This optical filter can be constructed in compact size and can readily implement a desired transmission characteristic.

    摘要: The present invention relates to an optical communication system of a structure permitting the communication carrier side to select a delivery service content to be finally provided from a terminal in a communication network through an optical fiber to a subscriber home. The optical communication system comprises a terminal as a final repeater in a predetermined communication network for delivering signal light with multiple signal channels multiplexed, to a plurality of subscriber homes; and an optical fiber network with one or more branch points installed between the terminal and the subscriber homes. The terminal includes an optical multiplexer/demultiplexer for multiplexing multiple signal channels included in the signal light, and the branch point is provided with a wavelength selector for selecting at least one of the multiplexed signal channels in accordance with a delivery service content of each subscriber home included in a delivery target group of the terminal and for delivering it to the subscriber home.

The member 110 is a planar optical waveguide where the optical waveguides 111 to 114 are formed on one surface thereof, and the groove 115 is formed thereon. Before the groove 115 is formed, the optical wave guide 111 and the optical waveguide 114 are a continuous optical waveguide; and the optical waveguide 112 and the optical waveguide 113 are a continuous optical waveguide. A straight groove 115 is formed so as to go through an intersecting point of the two continuous optical waveguides. The optical waveguides 111 and 114 are formed straightly on the member 110.

    摘要: A DGD compensating apparatus capable of compensating the time varying DGD of each wavelength component in the propagation light. The DGD of each wavelength component in the inputted light is monitored by a DGD monitor, and a polarization splitter splits the inputted light into first polarization light and second polarization light orthogonal to each other. The first polarization light is de-multiplexed by de-multiplexer for each wavelength component, and the de-multiplexed wavelength components in the first polarization light are multiplexed by a multiplexer after being respectively added with delays by an optical delay. The first polarization light in which each wavelength component is added with the associated delay and the second polarization light are combined and thereafter being outputted by a polarization combiner.
