摘要: A differentiation signal DF differentiated by a differentiation unit is inputted to a slice level generation unit and to comparators. A first peak-hold circuit and a voltage division circuit generate a slice level having a slice ratio SLR that is constant to a peak value VDF of the differentiation signal DF. A second peak-hold circuit generates a slice level the slice ratio SLR of which changes in accordance with the peak value VDF. The slice level generation unit outputs their synthetic slice level SLL, which is compared by the comparators with the level of the differentiation signal DF, outputting thereby binarized signals W-GATE and B-GATE. When the level of the differentiation signal DF is high, the slice level SLL approaches the peak value VDF. Therefore, noise components contained in the differentiation signal DF cannot exceed the slice level SLL. When the level of the differentiation signal DF is low, the slice level SLL has a constant ratio to the peak value VDF. Consequently, the peak value of the amplitude of the differentiation signal DF can be detected reliably.

摘要: A method of the invention reads a bar code based on bar-code data obtained by scanning the bar code with light. The method includes the steps of a) obtaining bar-code data, b) obtaining a sum of bar-data widths with respect to a predetermined number of bar data provided in at least one of a preceding portion and a following portion of the bar-code data, c) repeating the steps a) and b) once to obtain another sum, and d) making a comparison of the sum with another sum. The methods further includes a step of accepting the bar-code data as valid data when a result of the comparison satisfies a predetermined condition.

摘要: A proximity sensor receives light beams reflected from a goods. A proximity sensor control unit determines that the goods exists when a light quantity of the reflected light received by the proximity sensor exceeds a determination threshold value. The determination threshold value increases as elapsed time since the bar code was read last time becomes longer, and, as a result, a detection sensitivity decreases. A CPU restores a duty of irradiation of the laser beam back to 100% and resumes rotations of a motor for driving an operation optical system when the proximity sensor control unit determines that the goods exists.

摘要: A method and apparatus for selectively reading a bar code in accordance with first and second scan patterns emitted by a scan unit. A button is manually operable by an operator for switching from the first scan pattern to a second scan pattern. A controller controls the scanning unit to switch from the first scan pattern to the second scan pattern, responsive to operation of the button by the operator and, a predetermined time after relative of the button, to switch from the second scan pattern to the first scan pattern.

摘要: The present invention introduce a bar code reader capable of inferring data coded into one character failing in demodulation when one character can not be demodulated. The CPU demodulates the data obtained by reading bar code for each data character. Concerning the data character failing in demodulation, bar width data for four bars before demodulation is stored in the temporary saving buffer. When 11 data characters are successful in demodulation, the CPU calculates back the modulus 10 check based on the demodulated data corresponding to 11 data characters, and infers a value of the demodulated data corresponding to the data character failing in demodulation. The CPU, when the data character failing in demodulation is contained in the left data block, infers an ODD/EVEN configuration of the demodulated data corresponding to the data character failing in demodulation based on five pieces of demodulated data corresponding to data characters successful in demodulation in the left data block.
