    摘要: In one aspect of the invention a valve that operates in association with a downhole screen is threaded into the wall of a base pipe after being inserted through a saddle. When the valve body is threaded in, the engagement into the wall threads in the base pipe acts as a sealing force on a ring seal between the saddle and the base pipe and between the valve body and the saddle. The valve itself can be outfitted with a cover with openings that can be integral or removable and disposed at the end of the valve that is innermost to the base pipe. Preferably a series of elongated slots are used that can catch slurry if the well is to be killed while allowing subsequent production to drive the accumulated solids from well killing back into the base pipe. Another feature places the valve in a base pipe opening under a cylindrical screen section to reduce assembly time and cost of constructing an adjacent housing to one side of the cylindrical screen section to accommodate the valve.

A production tubing string assembly is made up having a plurality of packers for sealing within an open-hole wellbore having multiple individual zones. The production tubing string includes production nipples and one or more fiber optic sensor lines disposed upon the outside of the production tubing string. The sensor line or lines are disposed through the packers using a pass-through system so as to provide unbroken sensing line(s) to the surface of the wellbore. This allows temperature, pressure or other wellbore conditions to be monitored at the surface in each of the individual zones of interest.

    摘要: An apparatus and method for the completion of wells through a production tube includes a tool body having cement flow ports and pressure displaced port closure elements. A perforated mandrel tube concentrically aligned within the production tube is secured to said tool body at its upper end. Concentrically within the mandrel tube is a dart transport tube. The dart transport tube is releasably secured to the tool body by a set of locking dogs. A first dart plug is placed in the production tubing bore at the well surface to be pumped or allowed to gravitate onto a closure seat in the lower end of the of the transport tube. This seat closure allows the production tubing to be pressurized for setting well annulus packers and opening of a cement port closure sleeve. After the production tube has been set by cement pumped down the production tubing bore and through the cement flow port, a second dart plug is positioned atop the cement column in the production tube. A pumped column of water or other well working fluid sweeps most of the production tube cement column into the well annulus and lower end of the transport tube. The second dart plug lands against an upper bore seat in the transport tube to enable another pressure increase in the production tube fluid column. This next pressure increase shifts a sleeve piston that closes the cement flow ports and releases the transport tube locking dogs. With the locking dogs released, the transport tube falls to the end of the perforated mandrel and opens the mandrel perforations to formation fluid flow from the screens into the production tube bore. Residual cement remaining in the tube bore is all displaced into the transport tube and removed from the production flow path without drilling.

    摘要: An inflation tool for an external casing packer (ECP) is provided. It allows isolation of each ECP and inflation with mud, cement, or other fluids. The opening for the ECP is isolated by appropriate seals, while a passage in the inflation tool is closed off by a plug which allows internal fluid pressure build-up. A sliding sleeve valve is responsive to built-up pressure and opens to allow access to the ECP. Upon complete inflation of the ECP, the pressure applied is removed, allowing the sleeve to close and the pressure between the seals surrounding the opening to the ECP is equalized with the wellbore. Excess mud or other inflation material can be reversed out by a bypass feature around the plug. A pressure-relief feature in the inflation tool allows further pressure equalization for the string, which was used to run the tool in the hole, to facilitate its removal.

    摘要: A device or system for controlling fluid flow in a well includes a flow restriction member that transitions from a first effective density to a second effective density in response to a change in composition of the flowing fluid. The flow restriction member may increase in effective density as the water cut of the flowing fluid increases and/or disintegrate when exposed to a selected fluid in the flowing fluid. The flow restriction member may be formed of a water-absorbing material and/or a porous material. The pores may be water permeable but not oil permeable. A method for producing fluid from a subterranean formation includes controlling a flow of fluid into a wellbore tubular with a flow restriction member. The method may include reducing a flow of water into the wellbore tubular when a percentage of water in the flowing fluid reaches a predetermined value.
