Abstract: An illustrative example assembly for making an elevator load bearing member includes a fabric having a plurality of fibers arranged with some of the fibers transverse to others of the fibers. A plurality of cords are configured to support a load associated with an elevator car. The cords are included in the fabric and have respective coatings. The coatings include a first coating material and a second coating material, or include different coating thicknesses such that some of the coatings have a different coating thickness than others of the coatings, or the coatings include the first coating material and the second coating material and some of the coatings have a different coating thickness than others of the coatings.

Abstract: Disclosed is a ropeless elevator system having: a car mover operationally connected to an elevator car, the car mover configured to move along a car mover track in a hoistway lane, thereby moving the elevator car along the hoistway lane, wherein the car mover has a first tire of a first wheel that is configured to engage the car mover track when the car mover moves along the car mover track, wherein one or more of the first tire and the car mover track has an engagement feature for increasing traction between the first tire and the car mover track.

Abstract: A belt includes one or more tension members extending along a length of the belt, and a jacket at least partially enclosing the plurality of tension members. The jacket includes an elastomeric material and a plurality of reinforcing elements located in the elastomeric material to improve fatigue cracking performance of the belt. An elevator system includes a hoistway, an elevator car located in the hoistway, and an elevator belt operably connected to the elevator car to suspend and/or drive the elevator car along the hoistway. The elevator belt includes one or more tension members extending along a length of the belt and a jacket at least partially enclosing the plurality of tension members. The jacket includes an elastomeric material and a plurality of reinforcing elements located in the elastomeric material to improve fatigue cracking performance of the belt.

Abstract: An elevator system includes a hoistway, an elevator car movable along the hoistway, and one or more belts operably connected to the elevator car to propel the elevator car along the hoistway. A belt of the one or more belts includes one or more tension elements extending along a belt length, and a jacket at least partially encapsulating the one or more tension elements. The jacket includes a jacket base formed from a first material and one or more insert layers embedded in the jacket base material. The one or more insert layers have a corrugated shape along the belt length, and are formed from a second material different from the first material.

Abstract: A system for transferring elevator cars from a first elevator shaft to a second elevator shaft including: a propulsion system configured to move an elevator car through the first elevator shaft and the second elevator shaft; a transfer carriage configured to move the elevator car from the first elevator shaft to the second elevator shaft through a transfer station, the transfer carriage including: an elevator car containment slot to receive the elevator car; and a car retention mechanism configured to secure the elevator car and the propulsion system within the transfer carriage while the transfer carriage moves from the first elevator shaft to the second elevator shaft, wherein the propulsion system is configured to move the elevator car from an elevator system within the first elevator shaft onto the transfer carriage and off the transfer carriage to an elevator system within the second elevator shaft.

The jacket material also includes two end surfaces extending between the traction surface and the back surface and defining the belt width therebetween. A metalized polymer coating layer is disposed over at least one of the two end surfaces.

Abstract: An elevator brake wedge is provided and includes an elongate body having first and second generally opposed major surfaces and first and second generally opposed minor surfaces. The second minor surface has a greater length than the first minor surface. Each of the first and second major surfaces extends between corresponding first and second ends of the first and second minor surfaces, respectively. The second major surface defines low-friction film securing grooves extending from a plane of the second major surface into the elongate body.
