Abstract: A playback device reads out and plays contents from a recording medium. The playback device includes a first decoder that decodes a base video stream and an enhanced video stream, a second decoder that decodes encoded graphics data, and a first superimposer that superimposes the enhanced video information and stores enhanced high-luminance video information in a first video plain. The playback device also includes a first processor that converts color of a number of levels into a converted number of levels, a second superimposer that superimposes the decoded graphic data on the enhanced high-luminance video information, a second video plain storing the video information, and a second processor that converts color of a number of levels into a converted number of levels. The playback device further includes a third superimposer that superimposes the decoded graphic data on the high-luminance video information, and an outputter that outputs the superimposed result.

Abstract: A playback method of reading out and playing streams from a recording medium is provided. A stream file. including a first luminance video and a second luminance video, a playlist file, first and second combination information, elementary streams that can be played together with the first luminance video, and elementary streams that can be played together with the second luminance video are recorded in the recording medium. The playback method includes, when playing the first luminance video, reading out any one of the elementary streams listed in the first combination information of the playlist file, and playing at the same time with the first luminance video, and when playing the second luminance video, reading out any one of the elementary streams listed in the second combination information of the playlist file, and playing at the same time with the second luminance video.

Abstract: A non-transitory recording medium is provided that is reproduced by a playback device having an attribute reader, a decoder, and an outputter. The recording medium has recorded therein a video stream that is encoded video information, and a management information file correlated with the video stream. The management information file includes first attribute information, indicating whether a dynamic range of luminance of the video stream is a first dynamic range or a second dynamic range that is wider than the first dynamic range. In a case where the first attribute information indicates the second dynamic range, the first attribute information also indicates a type of the second dynamic range.

Abstract: Provided is a method of providing an advertisement in an indoor space using a system including a processor and a memory storing information about a content of each of advertisements including a first advertisement. The method includes: (a) calculating a base fee of the first advertisement from a content of the first advertisement stored in the memory based on a first criterion determined in advance based on a viewer's impression of each advertisement; (b) calculating an additional fee of the first advertisement from the content of the first advertisement based on a second criterion determined in advance to determine whether to be an advertisement improper to the system; (c) selecting an advertisement to be provided from among the plurality of advertisements based on a sum of the base fee calculated and the additional fee calculated; and (d) outputting an instruction to provide, to the indoor space, the advertisement selected.

Abstract: A decoding system decodes a video stream, which is encoded video information. The decoding system includes a decoder that acquires the video steam and generates decoded video information, and a maximum luminance information acquirer that acquires, in a case where a dynamic range of luminance of the video stream is a second dynamic range that is wider than a first dynamic range, maximum luminance information indicating the maximum luminance of the video stream from the video stream. The decoding system also includes an outputter that outputs the decoded video information and the maximum luminance information. Where the dynamic range of luminance of the video stream is expressed by the maximum luminance of all pictures in the video stream as the maximum luminance information, the outputter outputs the decoded video information, along with the maximum luminance information indicating the maximum luminance of all pictures in the video stream.
