Abstract: A negative electrode for a non-aqueous electrolyte secondary battery includes a negative electrode mixture comprising a negative electrode active material capable of electrochemically absorbing and releasing lithium ions, a negative electrode additive, and an acrylic resin. The negative electrode active material includes a silicon containing material. The Negative electrode additive includes at least silicon dioxide and a group 2 element oxide, and the group 2 element oxide includes at least one selected from the group consisting of BeO, MgO, CaO, SrO, BaO and RaO. The acrylic resin includes at least a (meth)acrylic acid salt unit. The content of the group 2 element oxide in the negative electrode additive is less than 20 mass % relative to a total amount of the negative electrode additive.
