Abstract: Various aspects of the present disclosure generally relate to wireless communication. In some aspects, a user equipment (UE) may receive, from a network node, a single rank reference signal. The UE may obtain, for multiple candidate beams, one or more single rank measurements from the single rank reference signal. The UE may identify, for each respective candidate beam included among the multiple candidate beams and based at least in part on the one or more single rank measurements obtained from the single rank reference signal for the respective candidate beam, a multiple rank spectral efficiency metric. The UE may identify, from among the multiple candidate beams and based at least in part on the multiple rank spectral efficiency metric associated with each respective candidate beam, a beam to use to communicate with the network node. A method that may be performed by a user equipment (UE) includes determining, from a synchronization signal burst set, a first set of synchronization signal blocks (SSBs) to forgo performing measurements on using one or more receive beams based, at least in part, on one or more previous measurements associated with the determined first set of SSBs and performing measurements on only one or more remaining SSBs in the synchronization signal burst set using the one or more receive beams.

Abstract: A UE is configured to determine a set of parameters associated with receiving the SSBs, the set of parameters including a first parameter bitmap associated with a serving cell, a second parameter bitmap associated with the neighbor cell, and the SMTC. The UE is configured to determine a search window for searching the received SSBs based on the SMTC and at least one of the first parameter bitmap or the second parameter bitmap. The UE may measure the SSBs searched during the determined search window and send measurement results associated with at least a subset of the measured SSBs to the base station. The UE may also prune measurements to generate the measurement results by removing measurements associated with SSBs received in slots that are not indicated to expect SSBs, based on the first parameter bitmap, the second first parameter bitmap, or the SMTC.
