    摘要: A separable, flexible connection arrangement (10) is provided for connection of two conductors (12, 14). In one arrangement, the separable, flexible connection arrangement (10) is utilized to provide an externally removable bushing (16) for connecting an electrical component located within a sealed enclosure (19). The flexible connection arrangement (10) includes two joints (20, 22) formed by two link members (50a, 50b) that are spring-biased and include protuberances (40, 42) that interfit into slots (30, 32) of the conductors (12, 14). A spacer (72) may be used to maintain spacing of the protuberances (40, 42) and also acts as a stop when contacted by the ends of the slots (30, 32). One of the slots (32) is formed with an open end (74) to enable easy insertion between the link members (50a, 50b). Alternatively, one of the conductors (100) includes a set of grooves (102, 104).

    摘要: A stored-energy switch operating mechanism is provided that includes a charging arrangement that reduces the peak forces required during the charging of the operating mechanism to store operating energy. The charging arrangement is responsive to a unidirectional input to accomplish the charging of the operating mechanism. In an illustrative arrangement, the operating mechanism includes a closing spring and an opening spring. During charging, the springs are sequentially charged prior to any switch-closing or switch-opening operation. The operating mechanism does not require the detachment of any components during either charging or switch operation. The charging arrangement, in an illustrative embodiment, is responsive to a unidirectional rotary input to a charging crank to sequentially drive a charging element in a first direction and then in a second, opposite direction. In the first direction, a first of the springs is charged and latched. In the second direction, the second spring is charged and latched. The operating mechansim is then ready for switch operation when required. For example, in a specific arrangement, the switch is open during charging. After charging and when it is desired to close the switch, the closing spring is released which causes the operating mechanism to close the switch. Thereafter, when it is desired to open the switch, the opening spring is released.

    摘要: An alignment and centering arrangement is provided for effecting the self-centering of a first contact assembly and for effecting the self-alignment of the first contact assembly with a second contact assembly as the contact assemblies are positioned together for engagement. The alignment and centering arrangement provides a predetermined maximum range of pivoting movement of the first contact assembly with respect to a predetermined position while requiring minimal forces for effecting the self-alignment. Additionally, the alignment and centering arrangement accurately establishes a predetermined center position with orientation of the first contact assembly along a predetermined axis. In one configuration, the alignment and centering arrangement includes the resilient mounting of the first contact assembly with respect to a reference plane. The center position and orientation are established by the resilient mounting biasing the first contact assembly to a predetermined reference position with respect to the reference plane. The predetermined range of pivoting is provided by the interaction of the first contact assembly with structure that defines the reference plane.
