A hydrodynamic bearing device has a shaft and a sleeve that rotatably supports the shaft. A thrust flange is formed at one end of the shaft, is equipped with a protrusion that is opposed to a stepped component of the sleeve in the axial direction, and is configured such that the thrust flange does not block a communicating hole when an impact is applied, which suppresses the generation of a cavity near the thrust flange.
