Abstract: An input device having a row electrode and a column electrode made by patterning a meshed metallic layer by forming a dividing section on a metallic line constituting the meshed metallic layer can suppress variability in areas of individual dividing sections formed on the metallic lines, whereby uneven shading due to the patterned, meshed conductive layer is suppressed from appearing on a touch operation surface. In the input device having the row electrode and the column electrode made by patterning the meshed metallic layer by forming the dividing section on the metallic line constituting the meshed metallic layer, a mesh side section intersecting with an ideal contour Sp2 of the column electrode (meshed electrode) corresponding to one side of a mesh in the metallic line Mw2 is divided by a dividing section Rs that does not overlap with an intersection Mcp of the metallic lines to form an actual contour of the column electrode.

Abstract: A display device (1) includes (i) a display panel (12) including a polarizing plate (18) on a surface of the display panel (12) and (ii) a touch panel (20) including a birefringent base material (31) on which a Y electrode pattern (32) and an X electrode pattern (33) are provided. Polarized light which has exited from the polarizing plate (18) enters the birefringent base material (31). The display device (1) includes an antireflection layer (28) which reduces reflection of the polarized light. The antireflection layer (28) is provided on a first surface of the touch panel (20) which first surface is opposite to a second surface of the touch panel (20) which second surface faces the display panel (12).

Abstract: A conducting layer (7) is formed in a shape of a grid having a predetermined width of lines extending along the first direction (horizontal direction in the drawing) and the second direction (vertical direction in the drawing). In a region that, when seen in planar view, overlaps those lines of the conducting layer (7) which extend along the first direction, lines of an insulating light-blocking layer (6) that are wider than those of the conduction layer (7) are arranged at predetermined intervals along the second direction. The conducting layer (7) is broken at predetermined places in a region that overlaps the insulating light-blocking layer 6 when seen in plane view. This makes it possible to achieve a liquid crystal display device including a touch panel substrate that has a high aperture ratio and that can suppress leakage of light through cuts in a conducting layer.
