Abstract: A golf club head includes a striking face, virtual striking face plane generally parallel to the striking face, and scorelines. A hosel portion includes a hosel exterior surface and internal bore to receive a golf shaft. At least a portion of a recessed region is located in the hosel exterior surface where the hosel portion meets at least one of a sole portion, rear portion, and top portion. A first virtual vertical plane is perpendicular to the virtual striking face plane and passes through a face center. A second virtual vertical plane is perpendicular to the striking face plane and passes through a heel-most extent of the scorelines, and the recessed region is located heel-ward of the second virtual vertical plane. A center of gravity is spaced from the first virtual vertical plane in a heel-to-toe direction by a distance no greater than 6.0 mm.

Abstract: A golf club head includes a striking face including a face center, a top portion, a sole including a leading edge and a trailing edge, and a rear side opposite the striking face. The rear side includes a channel configured to permit bending at least a portion of the sole to cause plastic deformation to change a bounce angle defined as an angle between a virtual sole line and a virtual ground plane when the golf club head is orientated in a reference position where the golf club head is addressed to hit a golf ball.

Abstract: A golf club head includes a striking face with a plurality of scorelines. A first virtual vertical plane is perpendicular to the striking face and passes through a toe-wardmost extent of the scorelines, and a second virtual vertical plane is parallel to the first virtual vertical plane and passes through a heel-wardmost extent of the scorelines. A central region bounded by the first virtual vertical plane, the second virtual vertical plane, and a striking face periphery has a first average surface roughness Ra1 of between about 40 μin and about 180 μin. And a majority of a toe region bounded by the first vertical plane and the striking face periphery is textured to have a second average surface roughness Ra2 no less than 1.5 times Ra1.

Abstract: A method of customizing a golf club, wherein the method includes generating operating data representative of a user operating a mechanical device. The operating data is generated by a first sensor sized and configured to be removably positioned in a mounting port formed on the mechanical device during operation of the mechanical device. The sensor is interchangeably positionable in the mounting port with at least one mass insert, the at least one mass insert being adapted to be interchangeably positioned in the mounting to provide at least two different mass configurations. The method further includes determining a recommended configuration of the at least one mass insert specific to the user based on the operating data generated by the sensor, and transmitting information representative of the recommended mass insert.

Abstract: A main body of a golf club head includes a topline portion, a sole portion, a heel portion, a toe portion, a striking face defining a face plane, and a rear surface opposite the striking face. A track member is at least partially nonparallel to the face plane and extends across at least a portion of the rear surface. A weight member is translatable along the track member such that the golf club head has a first center of gravity (CG) defining a first CG depth when the weight member is located in a first position, and a second CG defining a second CG depth when the weight member is located in a second position farther from the striking face than the first position. The second CG depth is greater than the first CG depth, with the CG depth measured normal to the face plane.

Abstract: A method for use in a system implementing a reference golf club, one or more sensors associated with the reference golf club, and a computing device. Using the computing device, the method comprises receiving from the one or more sensors swing data relating to a swing of the reference golf club, analyzing the swing data to determine recommended shaft parameter values for each of a plurality of shaft parameters using an algorithm, accessing a shaft database comprising actual shaft parameter values for each of the plurality of shaft parameters for each of a plurality of shafts, determining at least one shaft from the plurality of shafts based, at least in part, on a comparison between the recommended shaft parameter values and the actual shaft parameter values, transmitting information relating to the at least one shaft; and displaying the information on a display of the computing device.

Abstract: An iron-type golf club head comprising a topline, a sole in opposed relation to the topline, and a front portion extending from the topline toward the sole. The front portion includes a leading edge, a substantially planar hitting region including a face center, and a peripheral region. The peripheral region at least partially surrounds the hitting region such that the hitting region and the peripheral region define therebetween a visually-recognizable hitting region boundary line including a sole-proximate boundary line segment such that when the club head is oriented in a reference position relative to a virtual ground plane, and in a virtual vertical plane perpendicular to the hitting region and passing through the face center, the sole-proximate boundary line segment is vertically spaced above the leading edge by a distance D1 that is no less than 2.5 mm.
