摘要： A cartridge detachably mountable to a mounting portion in a main assembly of an electrophotographic image forming apparatus, includes: a cartridge electrical contact supplying electric power to a process device and being electrically connectable to a main assembly electrical contact when the cartridge is mounted to the mounting portion; first and second portions to be guided by a main assembly guide to guide the cartridge to the mounting portion when the cartridge is mounted to the mounting portion; and a guide portion guiding the main assembly electrical contact to the cartridge electrical contact when the cartridge is mounted to the mounting portion. The guide portion is disposed between the first and second portions to be guided, and the cartridge electrical contact is upstream of the guide portion with respect to a direction in which the cartridge is mounted to the mounting portion.

摘要： A developing device used with an image forming apparatus has a driving shaft with a rotating force applying portion, and a movable member on which the developing device is mountable. The developing device includes a developing roller and a coupling member for transmitting a rotating force to the developing roller. The coupling member includes a rotating force receiving portion and a rotating force transmitting portion for transmitting a force received through the rotating force receiving portion to the developing roller. The coupling member can be in a rotational force transmitting angular position, a pre-engagement angular position, and a disengaging angular position. In response to movement of the movable member the coupling member moves from the pre-engagement angular position to the rotational force transmitting angular position, and by moving from the rotational force transmitting angular position to the disengaging angular position the coupling member is disengaged from the driving shaft.

The cartridge comprises a developer accommodating portion for accommodating a developer, and a developing roller for developing an electrostatic latent image formed on an electrophotographic photosensitive drum with the developer. A side cover is provided with an elastic member and an inclination regulating portion for regulating an inclination of the rotational force receiving member. The side cover is mounted to a cartridge frame by the fastening member, with the rotational force receiving member being mounted to the cartridge frame integrally with the side cover.

摘要： A rotating force transmitting part is provided for an electrophotographic photosensitive drum for a main assembly of the electrophotographic image forming apparatus. The main assembly includes a motor-driven shaft having a rotating force applier. The drum is dismountable from the main assembly in a direction substantial perpendicular with an axial direction of the shaft. The part includes a coupler engageable with the force applier to receive a rotational force for rotating the drum when mounted to the main assembly. The coupler moves between a position for transmitting the rotational force for rotating the drum to the drum and a disengaged position inclined away from the axis of the drum. When the cartridge is dismounted from the main assembly substantially perpendicular to the axis of the drum, the coupler moves from the transmitting position to the disengaging position.
