Abstract:
System and method for identifying various types of room facilities to find out and take into account space information. A tag of a space (S2) is included in the fluctuation of the intensity of the light emitted by a lamp (LF1) provided in the space in question. The receivers included in the system are arranged e.g. in commercial mobile stations (R1). These are provided with a light detector and with a DSP algorithm that analyses the signal given by said light detector. As a result of the analysis, for instance the mobile station is automatically switched off when entering the space in question. There is neither needed a separate transmitter nor separate energy supply arrangements to send the space tag, and the space tag signal can be detected throughout said space. As regards the mobile station, the space-specific operations can be performed automatically, so that the mobile station user does not need to bother, and his possible negligence does not prevent the precautions from being executed.

A media device and a method of updating associating data in a media device are provided. The associating data relates to a service being transmitted over a radio interface of a cellular telecommunication system and associating the service with a broadcast media stream transmitted by a broadcast system. A starting point of a route of the media device is determined. A geographical route from the starting point to a point of destination is determined, the route comprising a set of locations. A selection of a location from the set of locations is received. The associating data related to the service and a broadcast media stream transmitted to the geographical area in the vicinity of the selected location is determined. The broadcast media stream and the service associated with the media stream are received.

The invention relates to a method and a device arrangement utilizing the method and a mobile terminal device (14) belonging to the device arrangement, in which method for giving an alert to the user of a cellular network terminal device (14), the user at first searches for interesting objects from the information networks (12) by means of a network browser in the data processing device (11), and after that saves the linking information of the found object as a bookmark into the personal bookmark archive (13). The bookmark archive can be located either in the cellular network terminal device (14), or in some data processing device, such as a server, to which the terminal device (14) can establish a data transfer connection. The information in the bookmark archive (13) is used for giving an alert to the mobile terminal device (14) about an object that interests the user.

An electronic device and a method for providing an extended user interface in an electronic device are provided. The electronic device comprises a user interface and a display configured to display data objects. The device is configured to detect selection of a data object on the display, detect dragging of the selected data object to a border of the display and to detect an effort to drag the object over the border in a given direction outside the display. A predetermined action is performed in the device on the basis of the detected effort and the detected direction.

The invention relates to a method for entering characters in a user interface of an electronic device. The method according to the invention comprises: detecting the direction of movement indicated by the input device when the start of the character entering function has been detected; showing the character of the character area on the display, towards which character area the direction of movement indicated by the input device is proceeding; detecting the termination of the character entering function; interpreting the character towards whose character area the direction of movement was last detected to proceed as the character to be entered next, when the termination of the character entering function is detected.

The object of the invention is a method and a software application embodying the method for displaying the information in the display (10) of a data processing device in a situation where a portion of the display (10) area, and thus also a portion of the information on the display, is covered by an obstacle (11) in front of the display (10). The method according to the invention detects the size and position of the obstacle (11), and then regroups (12c) the information in the display (10) into a portion of the display (10), which is not left behind the detected obstacle (11).

The invention relates to a method of deactivating the touch screen lock in a portable electronic device comprising a touch screen and means for locking the touch screen. An apparatus for quantifying irradiance has a first sensor having an output for providing a reference signal of irradiance within a first band, such as the visible light band. A filter and a second sensor are in optical series so that irradiance sensed at the second sensor is filtered. The second sensor outputs a filtered signal of irradiance within the first band. The filter particularly filters irradiance in the first band as a function of irradiance in the second band, such as the UV light band. In an exemplary embodiment, the filter is made from a material that darkens with increasing UV irradiance. A processor has inputs coupled to the outputs of the first and second sensors for determining irradiance in the second band from the reference signal and the filtered signal. Mathematical formulations for the processor are provided, as are methods and a computer program embodied on a medium. A single sensor embodiment is also described.
