摘要: Security guards at large facilities, such as airports, monitor multiple screens that display images from individual surveillance cameras dispersed throughout the facility. If a guard zooms with a particular camera, he may lose image resolution, along with perspective on the surrounding area. Embodiments of the inventive Imaging System for Immersive Surveillance (ISIS) solve these problems by combining multiple cameras in one device. When properly mounted, example ISIS systems offer up to 360-degree, 240-megapixel views on a single screen. (Other fields of view and resolutions are also possible.) Image-stitching software merges multiple video feeds into one scene. The system also allows operators to tag and follow targets, and can monitor restricted areas and sound an alert when intruders breach them.

The image circle may exceed at least one dimension of the imaging area of the image sensor. The imaging device may also include a positioning system coupled to the image sensor to move, e.g., pan or tilt, the image sensor with respect to the optics system, such that the image sensor may capture a portion of the image circle that exceeds the at least one dimension of the imaging area. Associated systems and methods are also disclosed.

摘要: An example imaging system includes a plurality of pixel circuits each having a photodiode, a biasing circuit and a charge-to-voltage converter. The photodiode is configured to generate charges in response to light or radiation. The biasing circuit includes an operational amplifier having an input signal port for receiving a bias reference signal which controls a bias current flowing through an internal circuit of the operational amplifier. The charge-to-voltage converter is configured to accumulate the charges drained by the biasing circuit and convert the accumulated charges into a corresponding output voltage.

One embodiment includes a plurality of focal planes, control circuitry configured to control the capture of image information by the pixels within the focal planes, and sampling circuitry configured to convert pixel outputs into digital pixel data. In addition, the pixels in the plurality of focal planes include a pixel stack including a microlens and an active area, where light incident on the surface of the microlens is focused onto the active area by the microlens and the active area samples the incident light to capture image information, and the pixel stack defines a pixel area and includes a pixel aperture, where the size of the pixel apertures is smaller than the pixel area.

One embodiment of the invention includes a plurality of focal planes, where each focal plane comprises a two dimensional arrangement of pixels having at least two pixels in each dimension and each focal plane is contained within a region of the imager array that does not contain pixels from another focal plane, control circuitry configured to control the capture of image information by the pixels within the focal planes, where the control circuitry is configured so that the capture of image information by the pixels in at least two of the focal planes is separately controllable, sampling circuitry configured to convert pixel outputs into digital pixel data, and output interface circuitry configured to transmit pixel data via an output interface.

摘要: Image quality is to be increased by a compound-lens type imaging apparatus. Lines each having pixels arranged in a predetermined direction are arranged on the light receiving surface. The pixels each generate a pixel signal by performing exposure when supplied with an exposure start signal. First and second lenses form first and second images that partially overlap at overlapping portions on the light receiving surface. A scanning unit supplies the exposure start signal to a line sequentially selected in the overlapping portion of the first image among the lines, and the line corresponding to the selected line in the overlapping portion of the second image. A combining unit combines images formed from pixel signals into one image.

摘要: Methods and systems described herein address the issue of how to efficiently capture an image circle within an image sensor associated with a wide field of view camera. In one embodiment, a processor obtains several criteria, such as a plurality of sizes of a plurality of image circles, a minimal portion of the image circle to be recorded by the image sensors, and a minimal portion of the image sensors engaged in recording the image. Based on these criteria, the processor determines a number of image sensors, a number of image sensor sizes, and a number of image sensor shapes. In another embodiment, the processor receives additional criteria, such as the desired aspect ratio and the desired shape associated with the image sensor. Based on these criteria, the processor determines a number of image sensors and a number of image sensor sizes.

摘要: Systems and methods in accordance with embodiments of the invention actively align a lens stack array with an array of focal planes to construct an array camera module. In one embodiment, a method for actively aligning a lens stack array with a sensor that has a focal plane array includes: aligning the lens stack array relative to the sensor in an initial position; varying the spatial relationship between the lens stack array and the sensor; capturing images of a known target that has a region of interest using a plurality of active focal planes at different spatial relationships; scoring the images based on the extent to which the region of interest is focused in the images; selecting a spatial relationship between the lens stack array and the sensor based on a comparison of the scores; and forming an array camera subassembly based on the selected spatial relationship.
