摘要:
A carry-on case (2) comprising a packing compartment (12) defined by a lower textile panel (16) and a zipper track (8) that extends along a bottom edge of the packing compartment (12). Packing compartment is accessible from the top of the case (2) via a three sided zipper track (8) extending along the top edge, right, and left sides of the packing compartment (12) to permit all-sided access therein.
摘要:
A wheeled upright luggage case is disclosed. The best embodiment of the case has wheels to allow the case to stand upright in a stable and balanced position without attendance by the user. The case has a wheel handle to allow the user to push or pull the case across a supporting surface. The case may be pushed or pulled on either four wheels or two wheels. When four wheels are used, the full weight of the case and its contents are borne by the wheels, relieving the user from having to bear with her arm any of the weight of the luggage. The body of the case is designed to have a specific range of tilt angles from the vertical; by tilting the body of the case toward the user, the design of the case improves the stability of the case while it is pushed across a supporting surface on four wheels. Various case body configurations and push handle arrangements are disclosed.

A two-wheeled luggage cases 10 formed of substantially two parts, the base shell 24 of a generally one-piece molded plastic construction, the lid shell 30 of a composite construction primarily of textile fabric panels assembled to form a covering that provides an access to the interior of the case. Properly fitting a textile lid to the integrally molded sides of a base shell is difficult, especially if the case is large, and most especially where the lid shell is constructed at a location remote from where the lid and base shell are joined to integrate the two and form the overall luggage case. Accordingly, the luggage case has a body portion which comprises a generally one piece base shell defining an interior volume to contain the user's things, and a lid shell is affixed to the base shell, the lid shell being mostly formed of fabric materials, and having a peripheral edge portion and an access opening. An elongated extrusion 55 is sewn along a peripheral edge portion of the lid shell. An outwardly facing groove is molded into the base shell adjacent and parallel to its peripheral edge, and fasteners 40 are passed through the edge portion of the base shell and through the first elongated extrusion. Straps 32 attach to the base shell and extend perpendicular to the peripheral edge of the base shell to embrace the lid shell and help provide a strong connection between the lid and base shell.
摘要:
A mechanism for attaching an auxiliary luggage case to a main luggage case including a cassette attached to the main luggage case, the cassette defining a elongated receptacle and a retention edge adjacent to the receptacle. The receptacle is adapted to receive the belt and the links connected to the belt when the belt and links are retracted to the main luggage case. An elongated flexible belt is attached at an inner end to the cassette, and has an attachment device connected to its outer end. A plurality of links are connected along the length of the belt. The belt is bent over the edge between the links to fix the position of the attachment device and the extension of the belt. The engagement of the edge with the link within the receptacle holds the belt and the attachment device in the position established by the selected location of the fold.

Some softsided cases (luggage cases with cloth panel bodies) include the frame structures to hold them erect and give them some structural rigidity. The ability of such frame members to withstand crushing forces without damage varies considerably. Also, the weight of such frame members can work against the inherent lightness of softsided luggage. Disclosed is a luggage case and a frame member for the luggage case which includes a panel. The panel comprises a pair of cloth laminae attached to one another at a peripheral seam structure. Between the laminae are positioned flexible elongated members preferably along the diagonals of the laminae if the laminae has a rectangular or trapezoid shape. These elongated members are engaged at the corners by holding means which have sockets to receive the elongated members, and specially shaped outer edges which engage a substantial portion of the peripheral seam at the corners. The elongated members cross one another in the middle of the panel. These loosely held flexible elongated members are capable of extreme flexural distortion. The elongated members are sized and positioned to provide a pretensioning force on the laminae and the case to provide stiff resiliency and to hold the case erect in normal travel yet to give and move flexibly to permit the case to be crushed repeatedly and completely without preceptible permanent damage to the panel.
