摘要： An apparatus for image formation comprises a fixing member, a pressing member, a heating member, a sensor, and a controller. The heating member heats at least one of the fixing and pressing members during a heating operation. The sensor senses the surface temperature of at least one of the fixing and pressing members. If the surface temperature sensed by the sensor exceeds a threshold temperature, the controller stops the heating operation of the heating member. If the sensed temperature drops below the threshold temperature, the controller starts the heating operation of the heating member. The controller includes a period measuring unit for measuring the switching period at which the controller switches the starting and stopping of the heating operation of the heating member. The controller restrains the heating of the fixing and pressing members if the switching period exceeds a reference time.

摘要： A pair of registration rollers are provided upstream in a paper transport path from an image forming position, and a paper transport position detection portion is provided upstream in the paper transport path from the pair of registration rollers. When consecutive print processing on a plurality of sheets of paper is performed, a paper transport position in the paper transport path is detected by the paper transport position detection portion for a sheet of paper that has been set in advance among the plurality of sheets of paper. A correction amount of a position for image writing to a photosensitive drum is determined based on the paper transport position, and correction of the image writing position is performed based on the correction amount. Image forming on the sheet of paper is performed at the image forming position based on the image writing position after correction, and image forming on other sheets of paper after the sheet of paper that was set in advance is performed at the image forming position based on the image writing position after correction.

摘要： An image forming apparatus including a sheet conveying apparatus. When a sheet is jammed in a first conveying path, a first unit is pulled out in a direction substantially parallel to a first conveying path. In this way, a driven roller and a driving roller are separated from each other, and a work space is created. The jammed sheet is thus exposed to the first conveying path. It is therefore easy to put a hand into the work space and remove the sheet. This allows for easy maintenance, and easy operation for removing a sheet retained in the apparatus.

摘要： An image forming apparatus provided with a photoreceptor with an internal gear includes the internal gear in a photoreceptor drum, a pinion gear in engagement with the internal gear, and a cleaning unit and a developer unit which apply contact pressure onto the photoreceptor drum. The pinion gear is provided in such an area that a resulting force of the contact pressure respectively applied from the process elements does not cause a distortion of the photoreceptor drum which exceeds an axial backlash determined in initialization according to a distance between axes of the pinion gear and the internal gear. The described arrangement prevents interference between non-driving surfaces of the internal gear and the pinion gear. As a result, a smooth rotary motion of the photoreceptor drum can be ensured, thereby preventing an image defect caused by an unstable rotary motion of the photoreceptor drum.
