Abstract: A turntable for supporting a confection is rotatably mounted about a vertical axis and is constrained by a linear guide to move to and fro in a horizontal direction. A friction wheel drives the turntable selectively in either of two modes. In one, the turntable is driven at a constant speed. In the other, the friction wheel is at an angle to produce a component which moves the turntable along the guide, and the speed of rotation of the turntable is continuously varied.
