Abstract:
A filter is provided which combines a woven wire mesh over a supporting body. The supporting body is typically a metal perforated tube which provides fluid communication between the well bore and the production equipment string. The woven wire mesh acts as a filter to prevent the influx of sand particles, provides openings oriented at various angles relative to its surface, so that some area is available for fluid entry even when particulate matter is lodged on the surface above an opening, provides interior channels that allow fluid to travel from one location on the mesh surface to another location over an opening into the supporting body, and does not provide "straight-through" openings, thus forcing the fluid to make multiple turns to pass through the mesh, thereby dissipating the fluid's energy and increases the mesh's erosion resistance. When particulate matter accumulates on the mesh's surface, the resulting particle cake remains porous, heightening the filter's resistance to plugging.
Abstract:
A fume and dust collector system is comprised of a semi-rigid tubular filter compressively held against a sub-base by a beam. To dislodge accumulated particulate, a combination of gravity hammer rapping of the beam compressively loads the filter wall and pulses of air discharged into the filter interior tension the wall. The filter is removed through the top of the enclosure and particulate is removed through a drawer at the bottom.
Abstract:
Pleated paper barrier type air filter elements are cleaned by a reverse air jet cleaning system which includes one or more specifically shaped cleaning air valves in which a plurality of jet nozzles or orifices are arranged in a predetermined pattern to provide a totally enveloping air jet which is discharged into a flow tube immediately downstream of the clean air flow chamber of a generally tubular filter element. The jet pattern provides a temporary pressure seal within the flow tube and entrains a substantial amount of ambient air into the reverse flow jet to thoroughly flush elements to clean dust cake from the exterior surfaces thereof. The multiple jet arrangement reduces the overall space occupied by the reverse jet cleaning system and provides a larger mass flow of cleaning air. Multiple jet orifice valves may be configured in virtually any geometric shape to provide a desired jet pattern.
Abstract:
The invention provides a dust collector for use in air pollution control which includes at least one hollow filter assembly disposed in a hopper and having an open upper end registering with a wall opening. The filter apparatus also includes a nozzle spaced above the filter assembly for selectively directing a reverse pulse of air into the open upper end of the filter such that the reverse air pulse enters the filter assembly and flows through the filter medium in the reverse of the direction of contaminated airflow to thereby remove accumulated contaminants from the filter medium. The dust collector further includes a sleeve positioned inside the hollow filter assembly with the outer surface of the sleeve adjacent the filter medium, the upper end of the sleeve registering with the wall opening and the lower end of the sleeve opening into the filter assembly.
Abstract:
Cartridge type filters are suspended in hopper. Contaminated air flows into the hopper, passes through the filters and clean air is removed through an exhaust duct. Periodically a reverse stream of compressed air is directed through an inductor unit into each filter from the exhaust side to pressurize the filters and clean contaminants from the outer surface of the filter medium. With reference to the flow of the reverse stream, the walls of the inductor flare generally on a taper upstream from a restricted throat to a generally bowl-shaped section which flares to a diameter greater than the diameter of the throat. The bowl-shaped section extends upstream to merge with an arcuate section of a bell-mouth inlet which is convex to the exhaust chamber and terminates in a lateral flanged end. The throat is generally arcuate and convex to the inductor interior. The reverse stream, coming from a nozzle above each inductor, does not impinge on the inductor interior walls until it reaches an area immediately upstream of the throat. Air aspirates into the unit over the bell-mouth section and is accelerated and merged with the main reverse stream passing through the throat into the filters. The relationship of the minimum throat diameter, interior diameter of the filter and the distance from the minimum throat diameter to the bottom of the filter medium is such that the stream discharged through the throat does not impinge on the inner walls of the filter medium. The downstream end of the inductor is generally bell-mouth shaped having an arcuate section merging with the throat.
Abstract:
Method and apparatus for maintaining the permeability of porous filtering media used in filtering gaseous suspensions. More particularly the invention defines Inside Bag Dust Collection wherein high energy pressurized gas is introduced for cleaning the filtering media. In the method and apparatus pneumatic impulse forces, derived from a series of charges of pressurized gas are directed downwardly through ever open venturi means and away from the interior of the filter bags; specific jet nozzle elements optimize the efficiency of the pressurized gas application, and an induced air funnel means within the bag causes vertical force resolution for induced air cleaning flow. Spoiler means are provided within jet nozzle means such that particulate matter will neither enter nor accumulate in the jet nozzle opening during normal, onstream gas flow conditions. There is also an accommodation to the conventional dirty gas chamber to efficiently receive high velocity, high volume induced air cleaning flow.

Abstract:
The present invention is directed to a filter housing with a removable filter assembly having an elongated shell assembly, a removable head assembly, and a removable filter assembly. The shell assembly has an inlet section, an outlet section, and a filter assembly opening. The removable filter cartridge includes a top tube sheet, a bottom tube sheet and a plurality of filter cartridges. The filter cartridges provide the only fluid passage through the bottom tube sheet, which otherwise sealing engages a ring assembly within the shell assembly proximate to the outlet section.
