摘要： An apparatus for making pallets includes an automatic stringer feeding system; an automatic stringer advancing system; a pallet assembly station; a nail delivery system; and a pallet stacking system. Wood stringers are automatically fed to a series of hoppers which facilitate advancing the stringers into the pallet assembly station. Spaced apart deck boards are nailed, via a gantry movable along a longitudinally extending frame on generally parallel spaced apart linear guide bearings, to both sides of the supporting base of transversely positioned stringers in the pallet assembly station. Multiple nailing stations in adjacent spaced relationship include a pneumatically driven double ram for nailing together stringers and overlying deck boards positioned within the pallet assembly station. The hopper loading system includes a first conveying system for conveying a layer of stringers from a stacked array in adjacent substantially horizontal relation along a first direction, and a second conveying system for conveying stringers in adjacent substantially horizontal relation to each hopper along a second direction substantially transverse to the first direction. A rare earth magnetic chuck is provided for holding a nail in position for nailing by the pneumatically driven ram. A method of making pallets includes conveying a plurality of elongated stringers in adjacent substantially horizontal relation along a first direction, and conveying the elongated stringers in adjacent substantially horizontal relation along a second direction to a hopper. The second direction may be substantially transverse to the first direction.

摘要： A machine for fastening rail plates to cross-ties, utilizing spikes or the like, and method therefore, is disclosed in the present invention. The preferred apparatus of the present invention teaches a system wherein there is provided a conveyor for conveying a plurality of laterally arranged, juxtaposed ties in bulk, a loader or retriever for loading a single tie upon a template conveyer, and a positioner for positioning the single tie during the pre-plating process. The present invention further includes a template system for securing the cross-tie or tie in place, feeding and positioning the rail-plate in place, feeding, dispensing, and positioning the spikes in place, driving the spikes, and discharging the processed tie, the template system utilizing as a principle motive force the displacement of the template reciprocating drive piston for positioning the template, as well as dispensing and positioning the spikes and plates.

摘要： The invention relates to a process for dispensing identical pieces having a symmetry of revolution about an axis, such as rivets; this process comprises arranging the pieces one after another in a tube (2) which has a hollow center (2a) adapted to assure the guiding thereof, admitting a compressed fluid into the tube behind the last piece (1D), and distributing said fluid along the length of the tube toward the hollow center (2a) thereof, to the interior of one or several longitudinal passageways (2b), such that the fluid pressure is exerted along the hollow center in the spaces (E) separating the pieces, up to the first piece (1P) on which the pressure acts for assuring its transfer. The process of the invention permits dispensing a very great number of pieces without risk of jamming in the tube and with a precise guiding permitting maintaining the alignment of the axes of the pieces.

摘要： Apparatus for feeding tacks to a heel lasting machine has one or more slideways which deliver series of successive tacks from discrete receptacles to selected axially parallel flutes in the peripheral surface of a rotor in such a way that the shanks of the tacks enter the flutes and the heads of the tacks overlie the upper side of the rotor. The peripheral surface of the rotor is surrounded by the internal surface of a stationary housing which has a set of pockets for reception of entire tacks from the rotor. The transfer of tacks from the rotor into the pockets of the housing is effected pneumatically, and the conveying of tacks from the pockets into the lasting machine takes place by gravity and/or pneumatically. The apparatus has a discrete stop for the discharge end of each slideway; such stop or stops can be actuated to bias the head of the adjacent tack against the upper side of the respective slideway and to thus interrupt the delivery of tacks from the respective receptacle to the rotor. The rotor is indexible by a stepping motor which receives signals from a control circuit in accordance with a selected program.
