    摘要: The automatic cut-off system includes a video data processing circuit, a cut-off control circuit, a drive circuit, and a level control section. The video data processing circuit adds a cut-off reference pulse having a predetermined level to primary-color signals of red (R), green (G) and blue (B) at different timings within a single vertical blanking interval, and outputs latch timing signals respectively indicating the timings. The cut-off control circuit shifts a level of each primary-color signal having the cut-off reference pulse added thereto based on a corresponding cut-off control signal. The drive circuit drives each cathode of a CRT (cathode-ray tube) based on a corresponding one of the shifted primary-color signals, and outputs a voltage corresponding to each cathode current as a common feedback signal. The level control section latches the feedback signal in response to each latch timing signal, and outputs the cut-off control signal of one of the primary-color signals.

Furthermore, the display system (10) applies blanking to the references pulses applied to the CRT output driving stage (16) so that the reference pulses will not be visible during a vertical underscanned condition. Shifting the generation of the cathode feedback current prior to the application of the blanking prevents any significant distortion, modification or skewing of the cathode feedback current sensed by the AKB sensing circuitry (19) of the video processor (13).

    摘要: An amplifier (60) provides an amplified video signal in response to a video input signal supplied thereto. A cathode current sensor (Q3), couples an output of the amplifier to the cathode of a kinescope (20) and also provides an output current (Ik) proportional to the kinescope cathode current. A feedback path (82) applies a portion of the sensed cathode current provided by the cathode current sensor to a circuit node (65 or 63) in the amplifier for imparting gamma correction to images produced by the kinescope. In one application the cathode current is apportioned (Q3, Q5) to provide gamma correction for the kinescope and to provide automatic kinescope bias (AKB) control.

    摘要: A video-display unit in which the beam current of a cathode-ray tube is measured for a predetermined time interval during display of some lines exterior to an image, for establishing automatic cutoff for the electronic beam. This electron beam is defocused during that predetermined time interval, and the defocusing is independent of the contents of the image, so that initial lines are substantially invisible. An electronic switch may be provided for decreasing the focusing voltage of the cathode ray tube. The electronic switch may be a high-vacuum tube connected to the focusing electrode of the cathode-ray tube, or this switch may be a transistor connected through a transformer to the focusing electrode. The transformer may be attenuated.

    摘要: A disclosed last-line overscan system and method allow for sampling of video display characteristics such as RGB cathode currents during each frame of displayed video for an underscanned video monitor without distortion of the visual display. Detection of the initiation of the vertical sync signal operates to overscan the last display line by driving the trace off the visual display area and away from the active raster. Sampling may then occur during an interval in which no visual display is possible thereby preventing distortion of visual information and preventing undesired brightness in the active raster. Subsequent to the interval for sampling of the RGB beam currents, vertical retrace is effectuated for display of the succeeding video frame. The video trace of the raster is bumped from the video display area and beyond the normal viewing area or escutcheon of the CRT screen during last-line overscan by providing a current surge for a preselected interval sufficient to allow for desired diagnostic sampling and testing, such as cathode current sampling.

    摘要: Apparatus for adjusting the black image current bias of a kinescope in a video signal display system includes means for developing a control signal representative of the black current bias condition of the kinescope. The control signal is developed in response to a sample of an integrated group of sensed bias representative signals developed over several horizontal line intervals which are significant in number relative to the number of horizontal line intervals associated with a vertical field interval. In the case of a color kinescope having plural electron guns, plural groups of signals respectively representative of the black current bias of each electron gun are developed. The plural signal groups exhibit a mutually time sequential relationship and are processed by a common signal processor to develop an integrated version of each of the bias representative signal groups.

    摘要: An automatic beam current limiting circuit for a color television receiver comprises means for individually monitoring the three cathode currents developed in response to the green, blue and red video drive signals. The video processing unit of the receiver is automatically adjusted in response to any one of the cathode currents exceeding a predetermined level for reducing the video drive signals to limit the excessive cathode current to the predetermined level. As a result, the individual cathode currents are limited to the predetermined level while the combined cathode currents are allowed to substantially exceed this level.

    摘要: A video signal processing system is disclosed including a sample and hold comparator arranged in a closed control loop with a video channel including a video amplifier for the purpose of providing automatic brightness control, and an automatic kinescope beam current limiter. The beam current limiter is coupled to a first point in the amplifier for controlling the amplifier signal gain to limit excessive beam current demand in a first control mode. In a second control mode, the beam current limiter cooperates with the automatic brightness control network to control the D.C. output level of the video amplifier in the presence of excessive beam current demand. The comparator response time is slow relative to transient variations of the D.C. level at the amplifier output induced by beam limiter action in the first control mode, but is otherwise sufficient to permit compensation of relatively long term variations in the output D.C. level. Compensation of the transient D.C. variations is provided by coupling transient beam limiter control voltages developed in the first control mode to a second point in the amplifier, for opposing transient D.C. level variations which would otherwise appear at the amplifier output in response to beam limiter action.
