摘要： A container for irradiation of blood products comprises a flexible, flat collapsible wall defining a sealed blood product chamber, the plastic material of said wall being substantially transparent to the irradiation, which is typically ultraviolet radiation. An access port or ports are provided for communicating through the wall to the blood product chamber. A flap is provided, integral with the wall and spaced from the chamber. The flap carries identifying indicia including a typically bar code indicia, so that the wall which defines the blood product chamber may be at least substantially free of opaque indicia. Also, means may be provided for detecting an indicating exposure of the container to such irradiation, such as ultraviolet sensitive tape adhering to the flap. Alignment holes may be provided, typically in the flap, to facilitate the orientation of the container with apparatus for irradiation and apparatus for bar code reading, making use of alignment pins carried by such apparatus. The irradiating apparatus may be of hinged section type, which carries a manually removable tray to define a support surface for a flexible container of blood product within the apparatus. The support surface is made of an ultraviolet-transmissive material such as quartz.

摘要： The present invention relates to a method for inactivating microorganisms especially viruses in protein containing biological compositions, especially blood, placental, serum and plasma components or derivatives solutions of human or animal origin or compositions containing proteins obtained by the extraction of vegetal or animal tissues or obtained by biotechnological techniques, i.e. by culture of natural or recombinant cells of bacterial, yeast, plant or human or animal origin thereby retaining the integrity of the desired protein at a degree suitable for its purpose. By extension the method applies to the inactivation of bacterial or viral preparations, when proteic components or proteic antigens are present, which are intended for use in inactivated or non-living vaccines.

摘要： A C-Band Disinfector disinfects objects placed within the device by subjecting the objects to closed-loop emissions of UV-C radiation. UV-C sensors measure reflected UV-C radiation and control the period of operation of the device. In an additional embodiment, UV-C radiation is transmitted by fiber-optic cable to a particular area of an object to be disinfected. After the prescribed dose is applied, the fiber-optic cable is moved to a new area of the object, and the UV-C disinfection process continues until all areas of the object have been disinfected by exposure to the prescribed dose of the UV-C radiation.
