摘要： A method and apparatus for exchanging an application roller which is aligned with a duct roller used to apply glue to a spine of a book block by rolling off the book block spine. The duct roller removes glue from a glue container to transfer glue to the application roller. At least two application rollers are arranging spaced apart, relative to each other, with one of the application rollers being positioned aligned and in contact with the duct roller. The duct roller and the at least two application rollers each have an axis of rotation that is positioned substantially normal to the conveying direction. The application rollers are moved in an axial direction with the aid of an exchanging device, such that a second one of the application rollers is moved into alignment with and against the duct roller in place of the first application roller.

摘要： There is provided a decoloring device including a decoloring unit, a first sheet conveying unit, a first sheet feed unit, a thickness detecting unit, a decolorability determining unit, and a second sheet feed unit. The first sheet conveying unit conveys the sheet to the decoloring unit. The first sheet feed unit feeds the sheet to the first sheet conveying unit. The decolorability determining unit determines whether or not the sheet which is subject to thickness detecting is decolorable by the decoloring unit based on a detection result in the thickness detecting unit. A second sheet feed unit is disposed at a downstream side in relation to the thickness detecting unit and at an upstream side in relation to the decoloring unit in a sheet conveying path by the first sheet conveying unit and feeds the sheet to the first sheet conveying unit.

摘要： A debinding apparatus for inclusion in a machine adapted to bind together sheets formed with first apertures spaced longitudinally on one edge thereof. The machine uses a first narrow thermoplastic strip which has studs projecting therefrom and spaced complementary to the first apertures in the sheets and a second narrow strip formed with second apertures spaced complementary to the first apertures in the sheets. The machine has a frame and a platen for supporting the second strip with the sheets superimposed on the second strip and the studs of the first strip extending through the first and second apertures and protruding below the second strip. In addition, the machine includes a plurality of cutting elements, heating elements for heating the cutting elements, and a mechanism for moving the cutting elements to cut off excess stud length and to initiate the formation of heads on the ends of the studs. The machine also has an assembly for forming heads on the ends of the studs which includes a plurality of fingers for engaging the ends of the stud and a mechanism for actuating the fingers from an inoperative to an operative position. The improvement to the machine comprises a debinding apparatus which disengages the mechanism for actuating the fingers so that after the cutting elements soften the heads the fingers do not cool the heads, thereby facilitating separation of the strips and sheets. A switch initiates the debinding apparatus.

摘要： Disclosed is an apparatus for milling off the spine area of a book to be rebound. A rectilinearly moveable table is provided carrying clamping members between which the book is clamped with its spine area extending through an opening in the table, the amount of such extension being determined by an adjustably positionable underlying platform which does not move with the table. A cutter wheel is rotated in a plane parallel to the table and adjacent its underface so that, as the table moves over the cutter wheel, the fabric, staples, glue, etc. on the spine area of a clamped book are removed.
