    Abstract: The invention in provides an apparatus, system and method of monitoring a sealing device. The apparatus comprises an inlet configured to receive pressurised fluid from a seal activation fluid pressure source and an outlet configured to be connected to a sealing device to deliver pressurised fluid to a seal element of the sealing device to energise the sealing device in use. A fluid barrier is disposed between the inlet and the outlet and is operable to isolate the inlet from the outlet. A fluid chamber is defined between the fluid barrier and the outlet, and the apparatus comprises means for detecting a change in condition in the fluid chamber indicative of a change in volume of the seal element of the sealing device.

    Abstract: A method for monitoring the condition of a piston rod sealing system of a piston compressor, the system having at least two annular chambers arranged one behind the other in a longitudinal direction and each having a sealing element arranged therein. A piston rod running through the sealing elements and the annular chambers is moved back and forth in the longitudinal direction, sealed by the sealing elements. The system has an inlet side and an outlet side, between which a difference in pressure occurs, and said difference in pressure has static and dynamic pressure component. When there is leakage gas in the annular chambers, at least the dynamic pressure component of the leakage gas is measured in the piston rod sealing system. A change in the condition of at least one of the sealing elements is determined from a change in the dynamic pressure component as a function of time.

    Abstract: A gas compressor of the present invention includes a reciprocating member, an accommodation portion, and a sealing portion, and the accommodation portion includes a compression chamber that compresses a gas and a non-compression chamber that is separated from the compression chamber by the reciprocating member and the sealing portion. Further, since the compression chamber includes a suction line that suctions a hydrogen gas, a discharge line that discharges a compressed gas, a connection line that is connected to the accommodation portion and is used so that at least a part of a gas flows therethrough when a gas passing through the sealing portion from the compression chamber exists, a flowmeter that is provided in the connection line, and a determination unit that determines whether a flow amount measured by the flowmeter is equal to or larger than a predetermined threshold value, it is possible to easily determine the abrasion state of the sealing portion.

    Abstract: A ring seal in a gas turbine engine includes a ring seal body, an axial sealing dam, a radial sealing dam, and at least one bleed slot. The ring seal body is annular in shape and has a first axial side, a second axial side, a radially outer side, and a radially inner side. The axial sealing dam is on the first axial side and is configured to provide a first sealing surface with a first component. The radial sealing dam is on the radially outer side and is configured to provide a second sealing surface with a second component radially outward from the radially outer side. The at least one bleed slot is on the second axial side and configured to allow fluid to pass through when the ring seal is incorrectly oriented such that the at least one bleed slot is adjacent to the first component.

    Abstract: A rotary valve seal for a coolant control valve is provided that offers improved sealing with a rotary valve body. The rotary valve seal includes a central axis, a cylindrical seal body, and a seal skeleton. The cylindrical seal body has a first stiffness and a first end that is configured with a radially outwardly extending flange. The seal skeleton, having a second stiffness and embedded within the cylindrical seal body, has a plurality of fingers circumferentially arranged within the flange. The second stiffness can be greater than the first stiffness. The plurality of fingers and flange can define alternating stiffness zones. The first end of the seal body and the flange define a bottom surface configured for sealing engagement with a rotary valve body. The rotary valve body can be shaped in the form of at least one spherical segment.
