566,164. Automatic guns. HALL, C. T., and MOLINS MACHINE CO., Ltd. Jan. 21, 1941, No. 814. [Class 92 (ii)] Relates to cartridge-belt feed mechanism of the kind in which the cartridges are advanced to the gun breech by sprocket wheels 11 on a shaft 10 rotated by a loaded spring 12 which is partly rewound on each discharge by a member 25 on the gun barrel 1 engaging a swinging lever 21 geared to the spring. According to the invention, over-winding movement on long recoils is prevented by providing the swing- ing lever with a two-part cam surface 24, 29 for engagement by the member 25. In the form shown, the spring is partly wound at each discharge of the gun by a roller 25 on the recoiling gun engaging a cam surface 24 on a ratchet lever 21 swinging on a shaft 17, the lever carrying a spring pawl 22 for rotating the shaft 10 stepby-step in one direction through bevel gearing 16, 15. The surface 24 is so designed that sufficient movement for one rewinding step is imparted to the pawl 22 on short recoils, reduced movement on long recoils resulting from the passage of the roller 25 on to a second cam surface 29. The gun recoils as a whole below a fixed cylindrical casing 2 housing the belt sprockets. The cartridges are carried in disintegrating belt links 4 and cams 36 on the casing 2 move the cartridges endwise, thus gradually releasing the clips which leave the casing by a shoot at one side of the gun, the loaded belt entering the casing by a similar shoot on the other side of the gun. The cartridges are carried round by the sprockets until they are situated above the loading opening in the gun ready for insertion in the gun breech. Specification 2332/14, [Class 92 (ii)], is referred to.
摘要:
A flat loop revolving firearm assembly can have a trigger mechanism configured to move a loop advance lever disposed between the trigger mechanism and a flat loop, and a hammer retractor lever disposed between the trigger mechanism and at least one hammer retractor bar. The hammer retractor bar can be configured to slide and contact a hammer thereby rotating the hammer to a cocked position and releasing the hammer to fire a cartridge removably disposed in a firing position chamber. The flat loop can have a plurality of flat loop links configured to revolve in parallel tracks into a firing position in response to motion imposed by the loop advance lever.

A medium-caliber ammunition supply device for a turret mounted on an armored vehicle includes: at least one circular turntable, placed at the rear of the turret, for positioning medium-caliber ammunition in a strip or chain, vertically and along a spiral path; and structural elements for guided and pulled conveyance of at least one strip or chain of medium-caliber ammunition. The structural elements include at least a conveyor and a ratchet box. The structural elements successively include a first conveyor, a first ratchet box, a second conveyor, and a second ratchet box. The at least one circular turntable and the structural elements all are covered with a sheet-metal protection on their side faces and/or on an upper part or roof. The sheet metal protection has mobile hatches mounted in a rotating or pivoting manner, allowing partial or complete and ergonomic (re)loading and/or unloading of the at least one circular turntable.

A transmission assembly for transmitting power between a fixed part and a moving part of a weapon, the moving part being disposed to move in response to recoil of the weapon, includes a drive motor, a mechanism, and a transmission device. The drive motor is attached to the fixed part. The mechanism is attached to the moving part. The transmission device is coupled to the drive motor and to the mechanism. The transmission device transmits power from the drive motor to drive the mechanism and includes a telescopic universal joint assembly. As a result, the transmission assembly permits power to be reliably supplied from the drive motor to the mechanism.

When cartridges are delivered from a stationary cartridge magazine to an elevatable firing weapon, it is customary to use a deflection or guidance unit, by which the cartridges can be reliably delivered to the elevatable firing weapon in every position of the latter. The cartridges are delivered to the elevatable firing weapon in a telescopic guide or infeed channel. With large elevation of the elevatable firing weapon, this telescopic guide channel is substantially contracted. On the other hand, this telescopic guide channel is substantially extended when the elevation of the elevatable firing weapon is relatively small. In the telescopic guide channel there is provided a bucket chain for conveying cartridges. The individual buckets of this bucket chain are interconnected by knee joints, so that the bucket chain can likewise be extended and contracted. One end of the telescopic guide channel is mounted at the stationary cartridge magazine and the other end is mounted at the elevatable firing weapon. The drive of the bucket chain is effected at both ends of the telescopic guide or infeed channel. Since the bucket chain is variable in length, this drive of the bucket chain need not be synchronously effected.

Cartridges are usually fed axially to a rotating array of barrels of a multi-barrel cannon or firing weapon, by means of a cartridge feeding apparatus, for example, an endless conveyor belt or chain. The cartridges must then be accelerated to the peripheral speed of the rotating array of barrels, since the spacing between the individual barrels is considerably greater than the pitch spacing between successive cartridges on the endless conveyor belt or chain. Uniform acceleration of cartridges fed by the conveyor belt or chain up to the peripheral speed of the rotating array of barrels of the firing weapon is effected in that the deflector wheel or sprocket comprises a predetermined number of radially adjustable slides. These radially adjustable slides define recesses or pockets for receiving the cartridges. Structure, such as a cam arrangement, is also provided for radially translating these slides during rotation of the deflector wheel or sprocket.

A cradle or bucket chain of an ammunition conveyor system serves to deliver cartridges from an ammunition magazine through a cartridge infeed channel to an automatic firing weapon. The cradle chain is able to easily move through a markedly curved cartridge infeed channel. This cradle chain is constructed such that there is not needed a separate guide track or rail and such that the cartridges can be easily withdrawn from or cammed out of the cradle chain in the vicinity of the automatic firing weapon. For this purpose the individual cradle elements of the cradle chain are each provided with a cartridge infeed cam for infeeding the cartridges to the automatic firing weapon. Each cradle element further possesses a sword or tongue member projecting into a guide groove of the cartridge infeed channel. Additionally, each cradle element of the cradle chain is guided by means of two oppositely situated walls of the cartridge infeed channel.

A cartridge feeder for a gun having two alternately fired barrels has respective adjacent loading positions. The feeder comprises a guide defining a path having an upstream end and a downstream end, the latter being at one of the positions and the other position being between the downstream and the upstream end. Cartridges are movable in a row along the path and are laterally displaceable out of the path at the positions, so they can be chambered directly from this path. A sprocket at an upstream end of the path is rotated while in engagement with a sequence of cartridges to advance same into the upstream end and thereby push the cartridges along the path into the positions. The feeder can be formed in part by an endless flexible conveyor having a stretch extending along the path opposite the barrels and formed with a succession of cartridge-engaging holders. It can also be closed at its downstream end and provided with a pawl that blocks cartridges from moving backward along the path in the guide from the downstream to the upstream end.
