    Abstract: An opportunistic asynchronous operation for coordinated new radio (NR) shared spectrum (NR-SS) operations is discussed. In a wireless network having at least one contention-based shared channel in which communications are configured having one or more control intervals time division multiplexed with one or more data intervals for transmission opportunities, a base station receives data for communication at a time during a current data interval on a contention-based shared channel. The base station will review its received signals on the contention-based shared channel during the previous control interval located immediately prior to the current data interval. If none of the received signals indicate a contention-resolution of the contention-based shared channel, the base station may begin an attempted transmission by performing an abbreviated clear channel assessment (CCA). If the CCA is detected as clear, the data may be transmitted.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A transmitting user equipment may receive control information indicative of a plurality of starting symbols in a first slot, the plurality of starting symbols including at least one default starting symbol and one or more subsequent starting symbols, each of the plurality of starting symbols representing a potential starting symbol for transmission, by the transmitting UE, of a sidelink communication. The transmitting UE may perform a listen-before-talk procedure during at least the first slot and may transmit, to a receiving UE and based on performance of the listen-before-talk procedure during at least the first slot, at least an initial portion of the sidelink communication during a selected starting symbols of the plurality of starting symbols, the selected starting symbol being one of the one or more subsequent starting symbols and representing a beginning of a channel occupancy duration.

    Abstract: Wireless communications systems and methods related to use of cyclic prefix (CP) extensions for channel occupancy time (COT) sharing among sidelink user equipment devices (UEs) are provided. A first UE detects a first sidelink transmission in a COT, the COT for sharing with multiple sidelink UEs including the first sidelink UE. The first UE may determine a CP extension length for transmitting a second sidelink transmission after the first sidelink transmission, where a gap duration between the first sidelink transmission and the second sidelink transmission satisfies a listen-before-talk (LBT) gap time threshold. The first UE may apply a CP extension having the CP extension length to the second sidelink transmission and transmit, to a second sidelink UE, the second sidelink transmission with the CP extension.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Generally, the described techniques provide for determining sidelink channel metrics using reference signal measurements of reference signals transmitted by other UEs. A first UE may receive a control message from a base station, and the control message may indicate a measurement threshold. The first UE may generate a reference signal measurement of a reference signal transmitted by a second UE via a sidelink channel between the first UE and the second UE. The UE may transmit a measurement report to the base station based at least in part on the measurement satisfying the threshold. The report may be a quantized value of the measurement or a bit indicating that the measurement satisfies the threshold. Based on receipt of the measurement report, the base station may determine to transmit data to the second UE via a transmission to the first UE.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described in which a first user equipment (UE) may transmit a first communication to a second UE during a first channel occupancy time (COT). The first UE may reserve resources of one or more subsequent COTs for one or more repetitions of the first communication. The reserved resources may be identified based at least in part on a two stage resource reservation, in which reserved resources are identified relative to a timing of the one or more subsequent COTs. Such a UE may first determine a timing of a second COT and may then determine a timing of the reserved resources based on the timing of the second COT. The reserved resources may be identified based at least in part on one or more offsets from a starting time of the second COT.

    Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described to support resource block (RB) grid alignment at user equipments (UE) in sidelink communications. In a first example, communicating UEs may support different RB grids and a receiving UE may attempt multiple decoding hypotheses for receiving a sidelink control channel from a transmitting UE, where each hypothesis may correspond to a different RB grid. In a second example, an RB grid for a sidelink control channel may be common, or aligned, for a transmitting UE and a receiving UE, such that the receiving UE may receive the sidelink control channel using the common RB grid. In a third example, demodulation reference signals (DMRSs) and resource element (RE) rate matching for a sidelink control channel may be common, or aligned, for a transmitting UE and a receiving UE, such that the receiving UE may receive the control channel using the aligned DMRSs.
