Abstract: A toner storage case includes a case main body, a rotary member, a support shaft portion, a bearing portion, and a toner returning portion. The case main body is configured to store toner therein. The rotary member is provided in the case main body and configured to move the toner by being rotated. The support shaft portion rotatably supports the rotary member. The bearing portion includes a bearing hole that rotatably supports the support shaft portion in a state where the support shaft portion is inserted in the bearing hole. The toner returning portion is provided on an outer peripheral surface of the support shaft portion and configured to return the toner that has entered the bearing hole, in an outward direction toward an outside of the bearing hole as the rotary member is rotated.

Abstract: A method of logging thread parallelism data include executing a plurality of threads at a multicore processor associated with an operating system to perform symmetrical multiprocessing. The method also includes tracking, at a logging subsystem of the operating system, an accumulated runtime associated with each thread combination of the plurality of threads during execution of the plurality of threads. The accumulated runtime of a particular thread combination increases while the particular thread combination is running on the multicore processor in parallel. The method also include generating, at the logging subsystem, logging data indicating the accumulated runtime for each thread combination. The method further includes outputting the logging data. The logging data is usable to increase thread parallelism at the multicore processor.

Abstract: A fixing device includes a fixing member, a pressurizing member, a charging portion, and a control portion. The fixing member rotates while being heated. The pressurizing member forms a nip portion between itself and a surface of the fixing member in such a way as to hold a sheet therebetween and conveys the sheet by rotating together with the fixing member, wherein an image of toner has been formed on the sheet. The charging portion electrically charges the surface of the fixing member to a polarity that is same as a charging polarity of the toner by supplying a charging current to a pair of electrodes that is disposed to face the surface of the fixing member. The control portion derives an index value of a charge amount of the toner on the sheet, and adjusts the charging current based on the index value.

Abstract: A sheet conveying device includes a sheet detection unit and a position adjusting mechanism. The position adjusting mechanism is disposed on a downstream side of the sheet detection unit in a sheet conveying direction in the sheet conveying path, includes an adjusting roller pair, and performs skew correction and positional displacement correction of a sheet, while conveying the sheet. The sheet conveying path includes a first conveying roller pair disposed on an upstream side of the position adjusting mechanism in the sheet conveying direction, and a curved part disposed between the adjusting roller pair and the first conveying roller pair, which curves in an S shape so as to be convex in a front and back side direction of the sheet alternately at different positions in the sheet conveying direction. The adjusting roller pair nips and conveys the sheet together with the first conveying roller pair.

Abstract: Systems and methods relate generally to image-to-text recognition. In an example thereof, a device captures an image and generates image data and associated meta data. A parser parses the image data and the meta data into sub-image data and sub-meta data, respectively. A recognizer renders the sub-image data into strings for one or more identified objects in the sub-image data. A mapper-controller maps the sub-image data in association with the sub-meta data to generate a data structure having positional information with respect to the one or more identified objects. A dictionary store is accessed by a natural language processing engine responsive to the strings. The natural language processing engine converts the strings into a natural language expression for the strings and the positional information obtained from the data structure.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a sheet feeding tray, a sheet discharge tray, and a conveyance mechanism. The conveyance mechanism includes a guide part, a first turning shaft, a second turning shaft, a coupling member and a drive part. The guide part has a sheet discharge port. The coupling member has one end portion supported by the second turning shaft in a turnable manner and the other end portion provided so as to be slidable with respect to the guide part. The drive part turns the coupling member around the second turning shaft to change a height of the sheet discharge port.

Abstract: An image forming apparatus includes a container that can store developer; an apparatus body by which the container is detachably supported; a detection portion, for determining an installed state of the container, provided for the apparatus body; and a control portion determining whether the container is unused based on a detection result by the detection portion. The container includes a displaceable member displaced between an initial position where the displaceable member is not detected by the detection portion and a detection position where the displaceable member is detected by the detection portion. When the container is in an initial installation state immediately after being installed in the apparatus body, the control portion determines the container is unused in a case where the displaceable member is not detected by the detection portion, and determines the container is used in a case where the displaceable member is detected by the detection portion.
