Abstract: A method for improving settings of a camera, the method comprising: obtaining a first set of setting parameters that are adjustable by an auto-setting algorithm, the setting parameters of the first set being set as a function of a task to be performed based on images obtained from the camera; obtaining a second set of setting parameters, the setting parameters of the second set being setting parameters of the camera, values of which are settable remotely from the camera; determining, as a function of the first and second sets of setting parameters, whether the auto-setting algorithm and the camera are compatible to perform the task; and if the auto-setting algorithm and the camera are compatible to perform the task, executing the auto-setting algorithm to adjust values of setting parameters of the camera.

Abstract: A computer implemented method of anonymising video surveillance data of a scene and detecting an object or event of interest in such anonymised video surveillance data, the method comprising segmenting frames of video surveillance data of at least one scene into corresponding frames of segmented data using image segmentation, wherein a mask label is assigned to every pixel of each frame of the segmented data based either on a class of objects or of surfaces or on an instance of such a class that pixel belongs to, and detecting at least one object and/or event of interest based on at least one shape and/or motion in at least one frame of the segmented data.

determining a first set of image characteristic values from an image captured by the first video source device configured with a first set of parameter values;
obtaining a second set of image characteristic values generated from an image captured by a second video source device different from the first video source device, the second video source device being configured with a second set of parameter values;

Abstract: The invention relates to a surveillance/monitoring system, comprising one or more peripheral devices for generating surveillance/monitoring signals and/or data, and a management system for controlling the peripheral devices. The management system comprises one or more applications, wherein each application is provided with an application-specific environment. The surveillance/monitoring system further comprises at least one value-added solution, each value-added solution comprising an external component and an application-independent adaption layer through which the external component communicates with the application-specific environment by implementing at least one first interaction request to the adaption layer according to a pre-defined application- independent interaction interface. The application-specific environment is configured to mediate at least one interaction between the value-added solution and the surveillance/monitoring system by matching the at least one first interaction request with at least one second interaction request from the surveillance/monitoring system and fulfilling the interaction if a match is found.
