Abstract: Interior panels for interiors of aircraft, aircraft, and methods from making interior panels for interiors of aircraft are provided. In one example, the interior panel includes an outer covering that has a first surface. The first surface is configured to be exposed to the interior of the aircraft. A second surface is disposed opposite the first surface. The second surface has a first pattern formed therein that is hidden from the first surface. A first light source is operative to generate a first light and is disposed adjacent to the second surface generally aligned with the first pattern. When the first light source generates the first light, a first illuminated pattern corresponding to the first pattern formed in the second surface is visible on the first surface.

Abstract: Door assemblies, aircraft including door assemblies, and method for making door assemblies are provided. In one example, a door assembly includes a hinge subassembly and a door pivotally coupled to the hinge subassembly. The door has a channel disposed therein with a holding member disposed proximate a channel distal portion. A sliding member is movably disposed in the channel. An arm has a first portion pivotally coupled to a second hinge subassembly and a second portion pivotally coupled to the sliding member to move the sliding member as the door moves between a closed position and an open position. A stay member is coupled to the sliding member to move towards the holding member which holds the stay member in position when the door is moved to the open position to hold the door open.

Abstract: Ribs for working an aircraft component having an aircraft component surface, fixtures for the same, and methods for the same, are provided herein. The rib includes a rib surface configured to receive the aircraft component and to be in abutting contact with at least a portion of the aircraft component surface. The rib further includes an extension extending away from the rib and configured to couple to a worksurface. Orientation of the rib is configured to be adjustable relative to the worksurface for improving working of the aircraft component. The fixture includes a mount defining an aperture and configured to be coupled to the worksurface and the rib. The method includes providing the fixture including the rib. The method further includes coupling the extension to a worksurface. The method further includes disposing the aircraft component on the rib surface.

Abstract: A wing for an aircraft includes, but is not limited to, a wing body having a wingtip, a leading-edge, and a trailing edge. The wingtip comprises an outboard-most portion of the wing body. The leading-edge is disposed along a forward portion of the wing body and is configured to cause a vortex to extend off the trailing edge at a location inboard of the wingtip when the aircraft is flown sub-sonically at a predetermined angle of attack. The trailing edge is disposed along an aft portion of the wing body and has an aft-most region disposed inboard of the wingtip at a position that corresponds with the location where the vortex extends off the trailing edge.

Abstract: Bushings and methods for supporting electrical wiring extending through a hole in a support structure, and aircraft including such bushings are provided. In one example, the bushing includes a grommet. The grommet includes a grommet body portion surrounding an opening that extends through the hole. A grommet collar portion extends from the grommet body portion about the opening. The grommet collar covers an interior edge surrounding the hole of the support structure. An attachment flange extends from the grommet away from the opening. The attachment flange is attached to the support structure adjacent to the hole. A shelf extends from the grommet adjacent to the opening to help support the electrical wiring extending through the opening.

Abstract: An aircraft includes a passenger cabin, a plurality of settable cabin environment systems, and an aircraft environment management system. The passenger cabin has an environment. The plurality of settable cabin environment systems are in operable communication with the passenger cabin and each control an aspect of the environment based on a setting. The aircraft environment management system is in electronic communication with the plurality of settable cabin environment systems and is programmed to: receive a preset capture request from a user; store, as an environment preset, the setting as it existed for each of the plurality of settable cabin environment systems at a time of receipt of the preset capture request; receive a preset recall request for the environment preset; and recall the environment preset by adjusting the setting of each of the plurality of settable cabin environment systems according to the environment preset.

Abstract: The pilot communication system employs a transducer array of individual spaced apart speakers and/or microphones for deployment within the cockpit. A signal processing circuit interfaces with the transducer array and also with the aircraft avionics communication system, and selectively applies different time delays to the individual speakers and/or microphones to create in the array an acoustic beam having steerable coverage within the acoustic space of the cockpit. By adjusting the time delays the signal processing circuit directs and focuses sound from the speakers to the pilot and similarly focuses the microphones on the pilot's mouth. In this way the pilots can communicate with each other and with air traffic control without the need to wear headsets. The system also significantly reduces flight deck warnings from being introduced into the cabin environment.
