A method of detecting a touch position and a touch panel for performing the method are disclosed. In the above-mentioned method, a plurality of scan signals is sequentially supplied to a plurality of first sensor lines arranged in a first direction. Then, at least one of the scan signals is analyzed based on touch events, which is transferred from the first sensor lines to a plurality of second sensor lines arranged in a second direction substantially across to the first direction, and then at least one of touch positions is detected. Therefore, a plurality of scan signals is sequentially applied to the first sensor lines in the first direction, so that a plurality of touch events is simultaneously detected so that a plurality of touch positions may be detected.

Abstract:
A phase delay element includes a brightness enhancement layer intermediate a reflection layer and an artificial light. The brightness enhancement layer is defined by a first surface and an opposite second surface. The first surface faces the reflection layer. A first light from the artificial light is incident on the second surface. A phase of the first light is delayed by about 1/4 phase (λ/4) so that a second light is emitted from the first surface toward the reflection layer. The second light is reflected from the reflection layer so that a third light is emitted from the reflection layer toward the first surface. A phase of the third light is delayed by about 1/4 phase (λ/4) so that a fourth light is emitted from the second surface. Therefore, a portion of the artificial light, which is reflected from the reflection layer, is recycled to improve a luminance of an LCD apparatus.

A display device includes: a plurality of sensing data lines; a plurality of sensing units that output sensing signals through the plurality of sensing data lines; a signal selector that selects one sensing signal among the plurality of sensing signals; an automatic voltage adjusting unit that, when one sensing signal is selected by the signal selector, performs a controlling operation so as to allow a magnitude of the selected sensing signal to be in a predetermined range; and a voltage generator that adjusts the magnitude of the voltage applied to the sensing data lines based on a control signal output from the automatic voltage adjusting unit. According to the voltage adjusting operation, the sensing signal output through the sensing data line is always in an appropriate range. As a result, the touch determining operation on the sensing units can be accurately performed, so that it is possible to improve reliability of the sensing units.

Abstract:
A display device including a plurality of sensing units, a plurality of first sensing signal lines, a first output unit, a first sensing output line, and a sensing signal processor. The sensing units are arranged in a matrix and generate a detection signal according to user contact. The first sensing signal lines transfer the detection signal of the sensing unit arranged in a first direction. The second sensing signal lines transfer the detection signal of the sensing units arranged in a second direction that is perpendicular to the first direction. The first output unit sequentially outputs the detection signals of the first sensing signal lines. The first sensing output line extends in the second direction for transferring the detection signal of the first output unit. The sensing signal processor determines whether contact is made or not by processing the detection signals of the first sensing signal lines and the second sensing signal lines. The non-display area of the liquid crystal panel assembly can be reduced by sequentially outputting the sensing data signals of the row and column sensing signal lines through the small amount of wiring. Therefore, an IC can be reduced in size.
