The methods comprise transmitting a contention free period initiation signal from an access point to the station, transmitting broadcast packets from the access point to the station, transmitting multicast packets from the access point to the station and holding the multicast packets in storage after the transmission, transmitting a contention free period end signal from the access point to the station, determining if a negative acknowledgement message has been received, retransmitting the multicast packets in response to receiving a negative acknowledgment message, and eliminating the multicast packets at a next beacon interval.

    摘要: A method and system for wireless data transmission between at least three stations use multiple frequency bands for simultaneous channel communications. The method includes transmitting a Request To Send (RTS) packet from a first station to an intermediate second station over a first frequency band. Two Clear To Send (CTS) packets, which CTS packets include transmission timing information, are then transmitted from the second station simultaneously both to the first station and to a third station. The CTS packet sent to the first station is transmitted over the first frequency band and the CTS packet sent to the third station is transmitted over a second frequency band. A data packet from the first station is then transmitted to the second station. The third station suspends, based on the transmission timing information included in the CTS packets, any unicast transmission to the second station during the transmission of the data packet from the first station to the second station.

    摘要: A scalable slot format defining positions of synchronization symbols, pilot symbols and data symbols for various numbers of sub-channels and various lengths of time in a multi-carrier communication system. An initial pattern (500) and one or more follow-on patterns (600, 700) are defined identifying positions of data symbols, synchronization symbols and pilot symbols for a first number of sub-channels corresponding to a first bandwidth. An extended pattern is constructed from the one or more follow-on patterns. The extension pattern is appended to the initial pattern to form a base pattern (810, 910, 1010). The base pattern (810, 910, 1010) is replicated zero or more times to form an expanded pattern (812, 910, 1015) identifying positions of data symbols, synchronization symbols and pilot symbols for an expanded number of sub-channels corresponding to a second bandwidth. The slot format may be implemented by a transmitter (100) having subdivided an original information signal into M bit streams and having encoded each of the M bit streams to 16QAM symbols to form M symbol streams, by inserting synchronization and pilot symbols into each of the M symbol streams at positions determined by the expanded pattern.

    摘要: A communication system (200) employs a method and apparatus for performing diversity voting in the communication system. A comparator (206) receives a signal frame (207-209) of code words from each of multiple signal sources (202-204). A prioritized code word of each signal frame occupies a corresponding frame position and has a respective signal quality metric associated therewith. The comparator determines whether each signal quality metric accurately represents the signal quality of its respective prioritized code word. When the signal quality metrics do not accurately represent the signal qualities of their respective prioritized code words, the comparator determines a supplemental signal quality metric for each prioritized code word. The comparator then selects one prioritized code word from all the corresponding prioritized code words based on a comparison of the supplemental signal quality metrics for input into the corresponding frame position of a voted signal frame (330).

    摘要: An uncorrectable set of input vectors (303), comprising a primary input vector (P) and a secondary set of input vectors (S), is provided at a sender (301). The secondary set of input vectors is error correction encoded and modulated with a predetermined input vector (PIV) to produce a secondary set of modulated vectors (S'). A predetermined codeword (PC) is sent along with the secondary set of modulated vectors to a target (302). At the target, the predetermined codeword is decoded and the resulting decoded predetermined codeword 306 is used to demodulate the secondary set of modulated vectors. As the predetermined codeword is chosen such that, when decoded, it is not identical to the predetermined input vector, the secondary set of demodulated vectors (S") will contain a sufficient number of errors to indicate to the target that the set of input vectors is uncorrectable.

    摘要: A method and apparatus is provided for communicating a group message packet among wireless communication devices (WCDs) over a wide area communication network that includes a first infrastructure device (ID), a second ID and a third ID. A first communication connection is established between an envoy packet duplicator module (EPDM) that is in communication range of a source wireless communication device (WCD) and a first envoy module implemented at the first ID that is in communication range of a first destination WCD. The EPDM is implemented at the third ID. The source WCD communicates a group message packet from the source WCD to a third envoy module implemented at the third ID, which forwards the group message packet to the EPDM. The EPDM generates a first copy of the group message packet destined for the first destination WCD, and communicates the first copy of the group message packet to the first envoy module.

In the peer-to-peer wide area network, each of the subscribers are affiliated to a talkgroup, and further registered to at least one peer within the peer-to-peer wide area network. In operation, the peer exchanges messages with other peers to determine that one or more peers listed in a talkgroup topology is still active. When the peer receives a media for a talkgroup from a subscriber affiliated to the talkgroup, the peer duplicates the media for the talkgroup, and unicasts the duplicate media to the one or more peers that are listed as active in the talkgroup topology to enable the one or more peers to deliver the media to the respectively registered subscribers affiliated to the talkgroup.
