摘要： A method of processing a check issued by a payor includes creating a check image at a payor location, obtaining positive pay data from the image at the payor location using OCR and transmitting the positive pay data to a payor bank of the payor. Alternatively, the positive pay data may be generated by the payor bank from the check image received from the payor. The positive pay data includes at least a name of a payee of the check and a payment dollar amount of the check, but may also include one or more of a date of the check, a serial number of the check, and an account number of the account on which the check is drawn. The positive pay data is stored by the payor bank and used to detect potential fraud when the check is later presented to the bank for payment.

摘要： A method for balancing the load of requests from a number of network devices for service from a selected one of a number of service providers, the devices and the service providers being interconnected by a network, and a network device and a network for carrying out such method. The device stores a location code representative of the devices geographic location and a table relating location codes and network addresses for the service providers. At least the approximate distance from the geographic location of the device and a service provider can be determined from their respective location codes. To send a request the device uses the table to identify the network address of the closest service provider and attempts to log-on to that service provider.

摘要： A system and method that allows one to mark information with a pencil or conductive ink on paper equipped with a RFID type circuit, and have the marked information provided to the RFID circuit, or have the written information cause the RFID circuit to perform some function. The marked entered information may be corrected by erasing the written information with a pencil eraser and writing new information on the paper with a pencil. Information may also be marked into a RFID circuit or have the marked information cause the RFID circuit to perform some function by utilizing a standard ink jet computer printer to print lines on paper equipped with a RFID type circuit, by having the printed lines perform the function of wires. The aforementioned printed information may be modified by having an individual connect different printed wires by drawing a penciled line between the wires or by punching holes in the printed lines.

摘要： A system and method for providing secure, on-demand delivery and retrieval of documents, messages and the like utilizing an adaptor coupled to a facsimile machine. An adaptor is coupled between a facsimile machine and a telephone line. A mobile device communicates with the adaptor to allow a user to log onto a document delivery system, via the telephone line, and select a document, message or the like to be printed. The telephone number of the facsimile machine is provided to the data center by the adaptor or mobile device, and the data center then sends the selected documents to the facsimile machine through the adaptor. Alternatively, the data center can encrypt the documents before sending, and a key is used by the adaptor to decrypt the documents prior to sending to the facsimile machine.

An adaptor is coupled between a network based printing protocol enabled device, such as, for example, an Internet Printing Protocol enabled printer, and the Internet. A mobile device communicates with the adaptor to allow a user to log onto a document delivery system, via the Internet, and select a document, message or the like to be printed. The adaptor or mobile device provides the Internet address of the printer to the data center, which then sends the selected documents to the printer through the adaptor using the network based printing protocol. Alternatively, the data center can encrypt the documents before sending. A corresponding decryption key is used by the adaptor to decrypt the documents prior to sending to the printer.

摘要： There is provided a connectivity scheme for heterogeneously coupling computer systems of dissimilar architectures, such as a client/server system to a mainframe system, using a high speed, low overhead protocol. The connection uses a channel-to-channel protocol, such as a Bus and Tag connection or ESC on connection. The scheme allows mainframe systems, particularly non-IBM and non-IBM plug compatible mainframes, to communicate with each other and with IBM and IBM plug compatible mainframes over the same high speed interfaces using large block sizes. Thus, the scheme provides non-IBM and non-IBM plug compatible mainframes to appear as peers in a channel-to-channel network.
