Abstract: The invention provides an air purifier (1) comprising a catalytic converter (100), the catalytic converter (100) comprising (i) a catalytically active material (120) and (ii) a heatable material (130) in thermal contact with said catalytically active material (120), wherein the heatable material (130) is heatable by one or more of an alternating electrical field and an alternating magnetic field, the air purifier (1) further comprising a field generator (140), configured free from electrical contact with the heatable material (130) and configured to heat during operation of the air purifier (1) the heatable material (130) by one or more of the alternating electrical field and the alternating magnetic field.

Abstract: A device and a method of sensing characteristics of a food material and a machine and a method of brewing coffee. The device comprises: a wave source (20) configured for emitting waves to said food material (22), with the wavelength range of said waves comprising a selected near infrared band neighboring a visible band; a detector (26), configured for detecting intensities of the waves reflected by said food material; and an analysis module (28), configured for determining said characteristics according to the detected intensity of the reflected waves. Preferably, the food material comprises coffee powder, and the characteristics comprise at least any one of: color of the coffee powder (corresponding to the roasting degree of coffee powder); and grind fineness of the coffee powder.

Abstract: A cooking device is provided, the cooking device comprising a first container (101, 201, 301, 401, 501, 601) and a second container (102, 202, 302, 402, 502, 602), one of them being used for cooking food with water and the other being used for containing liquid; a first passage (109, 209, 309, 409, 505a, 605a) and a second passage (105, 205, 305, 405, 505b, 605b) communicating the first container with the second container; a first control unit (104, 204, 304, 404, 507a) being coupled with a first valve (103, 203, 303, 403, 506a) for controlling the liquid in the first container to flow to the second container via the first passage; a second control unit (107, 207, 307, 407, 507b) being coupled with a second valve (106, 206, 306, 406, 506b) for controlling the liquid in the second container to flow to the first container via the second passage; wherein the first and the second control unit are located at the outside of the first and the second container. There are no electrical components in the containers of the cooking device and no electrical connections to the containers, so that all components in contact with the liquid can be removed easily for cleaning.
