Abstract: The invention provides a non-invasive device (100) for treatment of skin tissue using laser light, and it provides a method and a computer program product. The non-invasive device comprises a light emission system (110) for generating a first laser pulse (130) and a subsequent second laser pulse (150) at a predefined time delay (ΔT) after the first laser pulse. The non-invasive device further comprises an optical system (160) for focusing, in use, the first laser pulse and the second laser pulse at a treatment location (210) inside the skin tissue (200). The first laser pulse comprises a first power density, a first pulse duration and a first pulse energy for initiating a plasma (205) at the treatment location. The subsequent second laser pulse comprises a second power density being lower than the first power density and a second pulse duration being at least 10 times longer than the first pulse duration, and a second pulse energy higher than the first pulse energy for sustaining or intensifying the plasma initiated by the first laser pulse, whereby in use the first laser pulse and the second laser pulse together induce Laser Induced Optical Breakdown at the treatment location.

Abstract: A method of treating a skin tissue area (3) having a skin surface (5) is provided. The method comprises the steps of: deforming the skin tissue area into a deformed shape comprising a plurality of folds (17) in the skin tissue area; arranging radiofrequency electrodes (13) in contact with the skin surface on opposite sides of the deformed skin tissue area; and, while maintaining the skin tissue area in said deformed shape, providing a spatially continuous radiofrequency energy flow between the radiofrequency electrodes on opposite sides of the deformed skin tissue area through the deformed skin tissue area, thereby heating at least a portion (19) of the deformed skin tissue area; and releasing the skin tissue area from said deformed shape, thereby deforming said heated portion (19) into a wave-shaped zone of heated skin tissue having a depth relative to the skin surface that varies between a minimum and a maximum value in a direction between said opposite sides. Accordingly, an apparatus for treating a skin tissue area (3) is provided.

Abstract: The invention provides a non-invasive skin treatment device (100) comprising: a light source (10) constructed and configured for generating linearly polarized probe light (12) and linearly polarized treatment light (22), a polarization modulator (30) constructed and configured for controlling a polarization direction of the probe light and a polarization direction of the treatment light, a polarization sensitive sensor (40) constructed and configured for sensing a level of depolarization of the probe light by sensing an intensity of back-scattered probe light (42) from the target position (210) in a predefined polarization direction of the polarization sensitive sensor, and a controller (60) being configured for scanning the polarization direction of the probe light over a predefined range while receiving the measurement signal (Sm) and for selecting an optimum polarization (P1) direction for which the depolarization of the probe light is at a minimum. The invention further provides a computer program product for controlling the skin treatment device.

Abstract: A skin treatment device comprising a light source providing a light beam for optically treating skin, a wheel with a wheel surface for reflecting the light beam towards the skin, driving means for rotating the wheel and changing an angular position of the wheel, where different angular positions of the wheel correspond to different directions of reflection for the light beam, an angular position detector for detecting the angular position of the wheel, storage means for storing predefined skin-treatment patterns, a relation between the different angular positions of the wheel; and different reflection directions of the light beam, a control circuit coupled to the light source. The light source being controlled in dependence on the detected angular position such that, for each revolution of the wheel, the light beam is controlled to only illuminate the wheel surface in selected angular positions of the wheel to realize a predefined skin-treatment pattern.
