摘要: A method of skin tissue (1) treatment is provided which comprises the steps of: determining a treatment zone (9) within the skin tissue below the skin surface (3); modifying an electrical conductance property of at least two first skin tissue portions (11) present on opposite sides of the treatment zone with respect to a direction parallel to the skin surface; and providing radio frequency (RF) energy to the treatment zone via said first skin tissue portions. The step of modifying said first skin tissue portions comprises decreasing electrical impedance for the radiofrequency energy, in particular increasing electrical conductance, of said first skin tissue portions relative to a second skin tissue portion present between said first skin tissue portions; and such that said first skin tissue portions extend into the skin tissue substantially from the skin surface to treatment zone. A system for skin tissue (1) treatment is also provided.

摘要: A method of treating a skin tissue area (3) having a skin surface (5) is provided. The method comprises the steps of: deforming the skin tissue area into a deformed shape comprising a plurality of folds (17) in the skin tissue area; arranging radiofrequency electrodes (13) in contact with the skin surface on opposite sides of the deformed skin tissue area; and, while maintaining the skin tissue area in said deformed shape, providing a spatially continuous radiofrequency energy flow between the radiofrequency electrodes on opposite sides of the deformed skin tissue area through the deformed skin tissue area, thereby heating at least a portion (19) of the deformed skin tissue area; and releasing the skin tissue area from said deformed shape, thereby deforming said heated portion (19) into a wave-shaped zone of heated skin tissue having a depth relative to the skin surface that varies between a minimum and a maximum value in a direction between said opposite sides. Accordingly, an apparatus for treating a skin tissue area (3) is provided.

摘要: The invention provides a non-invasive treatment device (100) for heating a first (15) and a second (25) inner region of skin using r.f. electrical current, comprising: a first r.f. treatment electrode (10) configured and arranged to allow r.f. current to pass through the first inner region (15) to a return electrode (340), a second r.f. treatment electrode (20) configured and arranged to allow r.f. current to pass through the second inner region (25) to the return electrode (340), the device further being arranged such that the smallest distance between the first r.f. treatment electrode (10) and the return electrode (340) is less than the smallest distance between the second r.f. treatment electrode (20) and the return electrode (340); wherein the electrical skin contact area of the return electrode (340) is 5 or more times larger than the electrical skin contact area of the first r.f. treatment electrode (10), and the electrical skin contact area of the second r.f. treatment electrode (20) is 5 or more times larger than the electrical skin contact area of the first r.f. treatment electrode (10). By incorporating the second and first treatment electrodes in the same device, or probe, the positional relationship between the first and second regions being heated is fixed, or at least more predictable. By means of a suitable configuration, the regions may coincide to a smaller or greater degree. In some cases, the configuration may allow the same skin condition to be treated using heating of the first and second inner regions without moving the device over the skin. By providing an electrical skin contact area of the return electrode which is 5 or more times larger than the electrical skin contact area of the first r.f. treatment electrode, the locations heated by the r.f. electrical current will be proximate to the first treatment electrode, reducing the possibility of undesirable hotspots proximate the return electrode (340).

摘要: A measurement system is disclosed for light-based measurement of collagen, using a first light intensity and a second light intensity. The measurement system comprises a light source for emitting a light beam having a source wavelength range and an optical system to polarize light within the source wavelength range, thereby generating a polarized light beam, and to direct and focus the polarized light beam to a target position inside the skin at a predetermined focus depth below an outer surface of the skin. The measurement system further comprises a first detector, and a second detector for detecting the first light intensity and the second light intensity within, respectively, a first detection wavelength range and a second detection wavelength range of light reflected from the target position. The measurement system further comprises a comparator, coupled to the first detector and the second detector and configured and arranged to determine a difference between the first light intensity and the second light intensity. When natural collagen is present at the target position, a reflected spectrum of light of the polarized light beam reflected by said natural collagen comprises a plurality of adjacent first and second wavelength ranges, wherein in said first wavelength ranges constructive interference prevails between the polarized light beam and the natural collagen, and wherein in said second wavelength ranges destructive interference prevails between the polarized light beam and the natural collagen.

摘要: The application provides a non-invasive measurement device (30) and method for the measurement of skin properties using laser light, the device comprising a probe module (70) and an imaging module (50). The application also provides a non-invasive treatment device (130, 230, 330, 430) and method comprising the measurement device/method. The probe module (70) provides a probe light beam (82) that enters the skin along the probe axis (71). The probe light beam (82) is separate from any treatment radiation beam (22), so that the probe light beam (82) can be optimized for the measurement. A more reliable skin measurement system is provided because it measures a plurality of positions along the probe axis (71), within a probe region (95). The measurement device and method may also comprise a treatment module (110) or treatment step. The skin parameters measured may then be directly used to control the treatment parameters. This results in a skin treatment device (10) being provided that is both effective and delivers reproducible results.

摘要: The invention provides a non-invasive skin treatment device (200) for generating a multiphoton ionization process at a target position (110) in skin tissue (102). The skin treatment device (200) comprises a laser source (105) configured and constructed for generating a laser beam (106), an optical system (109, 112) for focusing the laser beam into the target position below a skin surface (103), and a plasma unit (117) configured and constructed for generating a plasma (100) such that, in use, at least a portion of the plasma penetrates the skin tissue for generating at least one free electron at the target position. The skin treatment device further comprises a control unit (123) configured and constructed for controlling the laser source and the plasma unit such that, in use, at least a portion of the light of the laser beam is absorbed by said at least one free electron generated at the target position, thereby generating the multiphoton ionization process. A result of the use of the plasma in generating the multiphoton ionization process is that an overall laser beam intensity, required to generate the multiphoton ionization process, is reduced as compared to skin treatment devices which generate the multiphoton ionization process using a laser beam only.
